Chapter 11: Leaving

Kyla's P.O.V.

I woke up the next morning in Rydel's bed with her sleeping next to me. I checked my watch and it read 6:30. I crawled out of bed and went downstairs. I heard someone in the kitchen and froze. Everyone was asleep so who could be on the kitchen? I ran upstairs to Rydel's room where I kept one of my cricket bats and tip-toed down the stairs. I quietly approached the kitchen before jumping out and screaming, "AHHHHH!!!!!!!" But who to find was only my backside of a best friend letting out a high pitched scream.

"What are you doing up Riker?" I asked calmly. "I woke up early so I came to get breakfast. What are you doing with a cricket bat?" he asked. "I came to beat the shit out of you for scaring me" I replied. His eyes widened and he ran out of the room into the living room. I laughed and followed him, resting the bat next to the dining table.

I sat next to him on the couch and pulled out my phone. I had 2 messages from Jordan and 1 from Kristyn. Jordan said he misses me and he wants to Skype later. Kristyn, on the other hand, said I have to call her as soon as possible. I decided to call her to see what she meant.

~Phone Convo~

Kr: Hello?
Ky: Hey Kris what's up? I saw your message
Kr: Well here's the thing.......
Ky: Kris, what's going on?
Kr: You have to come back home
Ky: What? Why?
Kr: We're honoring you for your 46 wins
Ky: Oh...well that's great
Kr: Yeah it is. You have to be here in a week
Ky: Well I guess I'll see you in a week then
Kr: Yep. Tell the Lynchs I said hi. I know you'll miss them when you get here but it'll be okay.
Ky: Thanks Krissy. Later
Kr: Later girl.

~End of Phone Convo~

Wow. I have to be back in Trinidad in one week. I'm not getting to spend my birthday with my best friends. "Hey who was that?" Riker asked. Oh shocks....I forgot he was there. "Uh no one," I lied. "C'mon Ky I know when you're lying," Riker said. I sighed and decided to tell him, "That was Kristyn. She said I'm being honored for my 46 wins in soccer." "That's great Kyla! I'm so proud of you," Riker exclaimed. "But, the thing is, I have to be home in one week," I said and Riker's face dropped immediately. "Oh" was all he could say.

"So you're not gonna be here for yours and Rydel's birthdays?" he asked shocked. "Fraid not," I said. That was another heart breaking thing. Me and Delly have the same birthday, just she's older than me. We sat there in silence until Riker spoke up, "How long are you staying for?" "Not quite sure but probably 2 weeks," I replied.

After another few minutes of silence, I decided it was best to leave. Riker walked me to the door and gave me a bone crushing hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his were firmly around my waist. "Text me when you get home," he whispered and I nodded into his neck.

He pulled away and waved goodbye one last time. I walked home and plopped on my bed. Becca came up to me and asked, "Are you still moping over Austin?" "Actually, no I'm far over him," I replied my voice muffled since my face was in my pillow. "Well what's wrong?" she asked. "I have to be home in one week," I replied. "Oh, well I know you'll miss the Lynchs and stuff but you probably have a good reason,"she said. "The football team is honoring me for my 46 wins," I said. I'm with Becca, she's Trini too I can say football.

"Well then I'm coming too. I wanna see my family," she said and smiled. "I guess it would be nice to see my family," I said. "Exactly so don't be sad," she said. I nodded in agreement and she smiled at me. She gave me a hug and walked out of the room. I then jumped in the shower to get ready for the day.

Riker's P.O.V.

So, my best friend and the girl I'm head over heels for is leaving me for 2 weeks. Whoop-tee-do. Note my sarcasm. Atleast she's being recognized for the thing she loves. But, now that I've developed really really REALLY strong feelings for her, it's just hard to stay away. I just wish I could spend her birthday with her. It was also the day I was gonna tell her how I feel about her. Guess I would just have to wait. Rydel's gonna be crushed knowing she wouldn't spend her shared birthday with her best friend. I even got her the cutest gift ever. I'll have to give it to her before. Unless..............
