(arranged marriage au)
Angie! For the love of Atua! You have five minutes before I start dragging you to this meeting myself."
I sigh in exasperation, and throw open my bedroom door. I'm immediately greeted by my mother's crossed arms and glaring eyes, reproaching me for being late.
"My darling, I know it may be...difficult to muster up enthusiasm to meet your new husband. However, your actions reflect on all of us, and you must trust that your father has chosen well."
Her eyes soften as she looks me up and down, clearly admiring my dress. It was a pearly white color, with a sweetheart neckline and ruffled hem. "You really do look nice. Theres a reason we pay the seamstress so well! If a man doesn't look at you and see a bride, he must be blind." My mother murmured.
I scoff, and try to wave off the attempted flattery. It wasn't that I objected to the thought of marriage, but to a stranger was a completely different story. For all I knew, it was a rickety old man whose only benefit was his fortune, despite my parents protests that I trust their choice. In the meantime though, I had no choice but to pray to Atua that my future husband wasn't a total failure. My mother guided me to the family's carriage, and I braced myself for the upcoming meeting.
The ride to my mystery man's manor was a brief trip, full of well paved roads and sprawling orchards. However, the most impressive piece was the manor itself. The exterior was a beautiful pattern of red and cream colored brick, guarded by a gleaming iron fence. The gardens surrounding the property were clearly well maintained, taking up several acres of land. Despite my best attempts to appear neutral, I couldn't help but smile as I took it all in.
My family certainly had no shortage of wealth, as we were the sole owners of the local vineyard. Our wines were known across the world for their fine, bitter taste, aged over several years. To say that we were rich was an understatement. Yet, despite our comfortable life, it still could barely compare to the sheer size of grandeur this manor possessed. I eagerly exit the carriage, and approach the front door. I knock twice, and the door quickly swings open.
"Hello! You must be our esteemed Ms. Yonaga!" a friendly servant greets me. "Follow me, Mr. Ouma awaits in the parlor."
The servant who greeted me promptly turns around, and begins leading me through the house. I'm stunned when we finally arrive at the parlor, having seen a total of three gorgeous chandeliers on my walk there. Still, none of the impressive architecture there could compare to when I first laid eyes on Kokichi Ouma.
The man, although much shorter than me, was undeniably attractive. His purple hair was well groomed and styled, matching the shade of his glittering eyes. His lips displayed a slight smirk as he also took in my image. The suit he wore was tailored, fitting deliciously tight to his body. A lesser woman would have sprung on him immediately, practically begging him to bed them. My parents had raised me with much more class than that, though my mind couldn't help but picture what his body looked like under that suit. All things considered, for an arranged match, he was quite attractive and wealthy. It was any influential woman's dream.
Never taking his eyes off me, Ouma stepped towards me, and lightly grasped my hand. He knelt before me and kissed my hand delicately. Oh Atua...those bedroom eyes would be the death of me. I mentally chastise myself, and try to focus on prioritizing my family's wishes. We could use Ouma's influence and wealth, and allowing for distraction could spell disaster. It was imperative I not ruin my opportunity at marriage, and allowing myself to be caught up in lust was unacceptable.
Ouma releases my hand, and steps back. With the added space, I feel like I can finally breathe and gain my bearings
"It really is lovely to meet you. It's very rare that I get to host such a beautiful woman. I've heard you're also set to take on your parents business soon?" Kokichi drawled, and I swear I feel my heart stop for a moment.
"Yes, I'm due to take over the business once I turn 21. However, as I'm sure you know, I'm looking for much more than a business partner in this arrangement." I say, voice slightly wavering.
"Ah, of course." Kokichi says "Trust me, you'll have no complaints once we properly get to know each other." Without missing a beat, the bastard winks at me, and turns to his servant.
"Camilla, would you mind fetching the lady and I some tea?"
Kokichi pauses, and when he looks at me again, a grin breaks out over his face.
"I get the feeling she'll be sticking around for a long time."
