AFTER A TIRING DAY at the lab the last thing she wanted to do was go to Stark's showcase to demonstrate a floating car. Especially after dealing with his agitating voice for hours. Comparable to nails on a chalkboard for her. Actually it was an identical comparison.
But as always Bucky and Steve dragged her along with them. She almost felt like a third wheel many of the times. Due to the boys talking about the war, cars, and she doesn't really remember else. Nothing that piqued her interest clearly.
Bucky had his arm looped with his younger sister's. As they walked through the crowds of people. Bucky spotted the two girls he arranged a double date with, and called over two girls.
Marie let out an audible groan as Steve looked nervous. And Bucky was the total opposite, his lips turned up into a grin as he waved them over. "Seriously Bucky! Keep your desires at bay for one night!" Marie whispered harshly as he let out a chuckle and walked to the two girls.
"Oh my god it's starting!" One of the girls squealed and dragged Bucky along. Marie unlooped her arm from her brothers as they pulled him to the stage. Steve and Marie trailed behind bored, showing little interest in the showcase.
Howard walked out onto the stage and took off his top-hat while handing it to the girl. He had a grin as he leaned in a gave her a kiss. Maries face looked disgusted, and her lips turned down into a scowl. He just couldn't go one night without some romance. Steve glanced over to the girl and chuckled at her face.
He grabbed the microphone, as his eyes watched the crowd. "Ladies and Gentlemen" he greeted the crowd as cheers exploded everywhere around her. She scoffed in response watching him on the stage.
"What if I told you that in just a few short years. Your automobile wont even have to touch the ground at all?" He explained as Marie listened a little too intrigued and she mentally scolded herself for it.
The dancers grabbed the wheels as he thanked them with his infamous smirk. Which every woman on this planet swooned over. Marie hated to admit but when he was flashing a smirk in her direction. It did quite in fact have some affect on her.
"With Stark Gravitic Reversion Technology. You'll be able to do just that" he spoke his tone engaging as the audience waited impatiently. Howard turned a knob and pushed up a lever on a little podium.
"Holy cow." Bucky spoke in awe as the two girls gawked in a "woah" stare. Probably because they found Howard appealing to their eye. Marie had put on a facade of that she didnt care but deep down, though she didnt want to admit. It was pretty damn impressive especially since it was Howard. Anything that he did would wow audiences.
Howard's smirk still evident on his face as he presented the floating car with his hand. The car fell and began sparking as "woahs" and "oohs" echoed through the crowd. Marie had a small smirk on her face as she liked to see him finally not fully succeed in something.
Which she knew nobody thought he was un- successful.
But as long as she did. She was content knowing one person doesn't awe over Howard Stark. Bucky turned around to his sister and his friend as Steve just stared ahead and Marie looked prideful. "I did say a few years, didnt i?" He asked with a small chuckle as the crowd applauded him.
Maries hands stayed down at her sides. Which earned her a few odd looks from watchers around her. Howard let out an awkward laugh as he watched the crowd his eyes landed on Marie who was already staring at him. Her lips pursed and quickly looked away.
"Hey Steve what do you say we treat these girls.." Bucky trailed while turning around as he saw no Steve. "Where'd he go?" Bucky asked Marie as her shoulders shrugged.
Bucky had already seemed to know where Steve was and dragged the three girls to a recruitment center. She watched as the two friends bickered back and forth. And Marie felt the girls next to her growing impatient by the second.
Her eyes landed on Doctor. Erskine. He gave her a small nod of his head in her direction recognizing her from research. She gave him a small smile, he glanced to Steve. And it clicked in her head. Steve was going to be a possible candidate for the serum.
She nodded her head a bit and she watched his lips turn up into a smirk. And she silently prayed that this would all work out. Because if it did, Steve should seriously thank the team. Because he needed it.
"Hey Sarge! Are we going dancing?" One of the girls shouted to Bucky. Maries shoulders slumped as she dreaded the thought of dancing. Maybe dancing to her pillow and bed. But that was about it.
Bucky turned around to face the three girls. "Yes, we are" he spread his arms open with a small smile. He began backing away from Steve, until going back in for a hug. "Come on girls. They're playing our song" Bucky told them as they followed him to go dancing.
