I sighed as I turned off my phone.
It had been two weeks since my exams scores came out, and the moment the clock hit 12, my university decisions were due to come out. 

I wasn't stressed, I was mortified.

What if I didn't get in?

Sure I'm the best at my school- but there's hundreds of top students who apply to the same schools who are also the best at their respective schools.
I'm not the smartest student in Gangnam, let alone Korea.

So, naturally, I walked to my closet and dug into the back corner of the bottom drawer.
Out came my box of cigarettes!
I grabbed my lighter and stuffed it into my pocket.

I texted my mom that I was going out for some air, and then stepped out of the front door.

I stepped into the elevator and leaned against the cold metal wall as it slowly went down.
I was wearing a huge gray t-shirt, flip-flops, and a pair of shorts that were way too big on me.

The elevator reached the ground floor and I walked to the swing set.
I glanced around as I brought the cigarette to my lips and breathed in.

I guess I just valued my reputation too much.
The thought of me not going to a school that wasn't one of the big 3 was enough to make me antsy.
I always felt like my destiny was to be this perfect specimen. As if my future was already precisely calculated and planned.

I just wanted to make everybody proud.

I wanted to show everyone I knew that all the years I spent obsessing over grades and reaching the epitome of perfection was worth it. 
Or maybe I was just trying to convince myself that I hadn't wasted my teenage years.

I grabbed my phone and looked at the clock.
I had ten minutes till I found out.
