On the next day, Mr. Gibbs looked for Jack but didn't see him. He went into his cabin and found him in his bed unresponsive, he tried to shake him out of the trance he was in but he remained catatonic. He left Jack there and decided to go for Jack's father.
Mr. Gibbs took some men and the long boat. They went to Port Royal. When they got there Mr. Gibbs looked for Edward. He went to the tavern but he wasn't there so he decided to go to his house.
Fortunately, Edward was at home with Jack's mom and some relatives. Mr. Gibbs didn't want to let Jack's mom know about his condition so he asked Edward if they could have some words in private. Edward looked at Mr. Gibbs and asked seriously, "What has Jackie done this time? Tell me!"
"Please, Mr. Teague! Can we talk alone?" Mr. Gibbs insisted. Edward thought it had to be something serious since Mr. Gibbs called him Mr. Teague. He stood up and both men went outside. Once outside Mr. Gibbs told him everything that happened the previous day and the state Jack was in. Edward insisted on asking for more details but Mr. Gibbs explained that Jack hadn't said a word since he got back from Gabriela's house. Edward nodded and went into his house and asked his brothers-in-law Jack and Ace to accompany him. On their way to the port, Mr. Gibbs told them about Jack's weird behavior.
When they got to the dock, Captain Brannigan saw the long boat and declared that it would take a long time to get to the Pearl on a rowing boat, unfortunately, he had given his men the day off so using his ship was impossible. Mr. Gibbs said there was a way to get to Jack fast. They all got on the long boat and Mr. Gibbs ordered the men to go to Gabriela's cove. Jack's relatives looked stunned. But Mr. Gibbs told them Gabriela was nice, she had even sent supplies to them.
They arrived at the cove and tied the longboat to the pier, then Mr. Gibbs asked them to wait for him. Joaquín and Felipe were in the cave working on the shallop. When they saw the long boat, Joaquín told Felipe to inform Gabriela about the visitors and went outside the cave to greet Mr. Gibbs.
Mr. Gibbs told Joaquín that he needed to speak to Gabriela urgently. Joaquín told him that he had sent Felipe to et her know about their visit. After a few minutes, they saw Gabriela followed by Fermín and Felipe climbing down the stairs. Gabriela approached Joaquín and Mr. Gibbs, on her way she smiled at the men on the long boat and waved her hand while she shouted, "Hello Mr. Teague, Uncle Jack, Captain Brannigan!" They waved back at her, and then looked at each other. Uncle Jack said, "I like this lass, she is nice!"
Mr. Gibbs explained that he needed to take Jack's relatives to the Pearl as soon as possible because Jack wasn't feeling well so they needed to borrow her shallop. Gabriela asked if they needed any medicine, but Mr. Gibbs said it wasn't necessary. She asked Mr. Gibbs to ask his men to help hers to take the shallop out of the cave. Felipe ran upstairs to ask some workers to help, then he headed to the house and asked Isabela to prepare some supplies because Jack wasn't well and he told Charlie and Albert to help him get the supplies to the beach. When Felipe reached the beach with some supplies the shallop was almost in the water. He loaded the supplies.
Gabriela told Mr. Gibbs that her men would go with them and if they considered they needed to stay for a few hours they would wait to bring them back to Port Royal. If it was a more serious matter and they needed to stay she could send the shallop the next day to pick them up.
They tied the long boat to the shallop. Fermín, Joaquín, Jack's men got on board. Edward and Jack's uncles thanked Gabriela for her help. Gabriela consoled Edward and told him maybe Jack got wet during the storm and had some fever, but he shouldn't worry, Jack would be fine in no time. Edward thanked her for her kind words. When Edward was about to get on board, Albert and Charlie came and gave Gabriela something. Gabriela handed it to Edward and Jack's uncles, she said, "Here you have a blanket, and some wool socks for Jack. Keep him warm. And here you have some freshly made broth in this jar, that will help him get well soon." Then she took off the necklace with a cross and gave it to Edward, "Please make him wear it, our Lord will keep him safe!"
