The following day Gabriela received a letter from the Duke, James Nottingham, inviting her to the celebration of the anniversary of Port Royal. Gabriela thought it was a great opportunity to rescue Captain Drake's men from prison since everyone in town would be celebrating and they could distract the guards with alcohol. Gabriela sent a message to Captain Drake, Anne, and Jack. She told Drake to have his men ready, Anne to bring her men to port and get Jack and his men on her way to Port Royal. Gabriela would leave the cove entrance open so they could go to town through her property.

Mr. Gibbs tried to persuade Jack not to take part in the prison break, but Jack was intrigued by Gabriela's involvement. Jack sent a message to his uncle, Captain "Ace" Brannigan, and told him about the prison break and to be ready to help him in case it was necessary. He also told him that James Bonny was an informant for Governor Rogers.
Captain Brannigan went to Jack's father to tell him the news. "Can ye believe this lass? She is friends with Anne Bonny and Thomas Drake!!!" He murmured.
"And we were worried about her! Now she is getting Jackie in trouble!" Edward retorted. "Unbelievable!"
"She is exactly what our Jackie needs!" Jack's mom sighed.
Edward, "Ace" and Uncle Jack looked at her, they were dumbstruck! "Are ye crazy?" Edward demurred.
"No! Think about this fer a moment! Jackie likes refined ladies, but that kind doesn't like us. This girl is refined but has the makings of a pirate’s wife! I want a grandson!" Jack's mom lamented.
Edward gulped, "What do ye mean?"
Jack's mom insinuated, "Maybe we should help the lass, ye all know Jack is not going to fall if we don't push him a little..."
"I don't want to be part of this!" Edward disclaimed
"Please, let's help Jackie..." Jack's mom begged.
"It is about time Jack settles down!" Captain Brannigan concluded. "Let's see what she is planning and if we can then we will help her," he added, "Now we have to help them get those men out of prison. I can't believe it was Captain James Bonny who helped the English, and to think I pitied him!" He was enraged.

On the following day, everyone was busy at Gabriela's house. She had instructed her cooks to bake some cookies and glaze them with some drugs to make the guards sleepy.
When the first pirates arrived all the cookies were ready, some pirates were instructed to take the cookies and pay some prostitutes to go and deliver the cookies and some rum to the guards.
All the pirates went through Gabriela's property and left for town.
Anne, Jack, and Thomas met at the tavern, where Captain Brannigan was waiting with Edward and Uncle Jack. They sat at another table, but Jack greeted his relatives, Captain Brannigan winked at Jack to let him know he had everything ready just in case.

In the evening, Don Juan went to Gabriela's house to look for her and take her to the Duke's for the celebration. Gabriela looked radiant. When they entered James Nottingham's house all eyes were on her. Her exotic Spanish sensual look could not go unnoticed. James approached them and greeted them, he also paid a compliment to Gabriela and he escorted them to where Admiral Davenport was. Susan Davenport was there, too. Admiral Davenport introduced them to all the high-ranking officers who were present for the celebration.
A moment later the Governor of the Bahamas, Captain Woodes Rogers, arrived. He couldn't take his eyes off Gabriela. He was mesmerized by Gabriela's beauty. Duke Nottingham noticed the way Governor Rogers looked at his future wife and couldn't take it so he introduced her as his fiancée. Gabriela smiled awkwardly and wondered why it was taking so long for King Felipe's emissary to show up. Don Juan couldn't be happier and reminded Duke Nottingham that they should announce the engagement soon. Gabriela said that night was the town celebration and he shouldn't be rude to their host. To her displeasure, Susan and Davenport supported Don Juan's request. The Duke smiled and after calling everybody's attention he announced his engagement to Gabriela.
