Chapter 16 - The Empress

Mina finally managed to get closer to Lucy to speak about the worry in the back of her mind. She felt as if the problem would get bigger and worse if she didn't say anything about it and Lucy was the right person to ask about it.

"Hey, Luce? Remember when I said I'd talk to you later, because of the cards?" Mina asked, approaching Lucy when the two of them were further away from the others, going through some of Luna's old herbariums.

Lucy looked over and nodded, offering one of her more candid smiles and placing the book she had on her hands on the shelf. She was a little stiff, probably from worry over Amelia. Mina was too, but there was really nothing they could do, all things considered. Lucy leaned on the shelf and gave Mina her undivided attention.

"So, that night me and the girls went shopping, some weeks ago, I did a Tarot reading on Amelia."

Lucy frowned, then. The woman knew how good Mina was at Divination. Her readings on the cards were always spot on, her intuition and overall divination powers very well developed and strong. So, when Mina wanted to talk about something that she saw on the cards, Lucy always got a little tense. Now it was no different.

"What did you see?"

"Well... I did a simple reading, just because she doesn't really believe in the cards. There were two cards in particular that had me a little confused." Mina leaned on the shelf as well, beside Lucy "First, it was the Four of Wands."

Lucy arched her brows, surprised "Family... Do you think she'll meet her mother?"

"I thought that too, but the cards didn't allow me to see anything related to that. But then the other card...?" Mina moved uncomfortably and touched one of her curls in nervousness "I flipped The Empress."

Lucy took a while to react, most likely because she was trying to remember what the card actually meant, or what could be associated with it. But then the white haired Witch widened her eyes in surprise.

"The Empress?" Lucy whispered, tilting her head to the side in curiosity "Did you see anything?"

Mina almost wanted to bury herself in a hole and just stay there. An unsettling feeling of guilt was beginning to pool at her gut and making her palms and armpits sweat.

"I did. At first I was trying to understand what it could be related to. Her whole magic is related to nature, and fertility as well, so I didn't understand. But then, at the night of the Moon Ritual, I saw something." Sighing, Mina finally blurted it out "I saw a baby. It was confusing, lots of images melting together, but I know I saw it. There was no indication of who it was, or the mother... But I can feel that the baby was hers."

Lucy was completely speechless, pressing her lips in worry and knitting her brows in worry. Mina was never wrong in her divination readings. But it didn't make sense that Amelia would get pregnant through this Moon Cycle, she had taken the potion Luna made and the darn thing was effective. So, something wasn't right in this whole thing.
