Dahlia grumbled when the soft touch of fuzz touched her cheek. She was mildly aware of who was pawing at her face for her to wake, but she was so tired that she could barely bring herself to open her eyes and face it.
"Come on, you can't sleep through the whole day, we have work to do. I found the apothecary, carissima, don't we have to go take a look?" Nyx insisted, smooth furry paw touching her cheek again.
"I'm still tired." Dahlia replied, voice husky from disuse.
"Of course you are! But you have work to do, we need to go check the apothecary."
Nyx was dreadfully right. But Dahlia was speaking the truth. She really was tired, from driving so much and from functioning for so long during the day. Her body was definitely not doing well and her anxiety levels were proof of it.
"Fine, I'm up. I can't wait for all this shit to be over and finally be able to rest in peace." She grumbled grumpily, her muscles instantly complaining the moment she moved to get up.
Dahlia went through the whole process of showering and getting dressed, the towel and clothes feeling like sandpaper on her skin. Wanting to stay indoors as long as possible, Dahlia asked for her food to be brought up instead of going downstairs to the restaurant. There was also the possibility of Jung Hoseok being downstairs and catching her walking around looking like a whole zombie apocalypse and she wasn't having that.
The tray of food was delivered with the weekly newspaper and she sat down to eat with it on one hand.
Murders... There was a streak of murders going around Seattle. It had started on the day she checked in the hotel, just two days ago, even after one club downtown had been vandalized, after closing time, and the staff brutally killed. The headlines were speaking of a potential group of killers, seeing as there were too many bodies appearing each night. And the description spoke of horrible details, of slashing, pieces cut and disfigured, mutilated people.
There was no way this was the work of humans.
Although humans were capable of many horrors, many of them she had witnessed while growing up and through the course of history, this was a little bit beyond their doing. Everything was way too violent.
She looked over at Nyx, who glanced back, two pairs of dark purple eyes staring back at each other with intense understanding.
"We really need to be quick about finding Lucy."
"Will be complicated, all things considered. Luna hasn't been to the apothecary at all, carissima. The place looks like it has been under construction, even." Nyx explained, raising her paw to lick it clean a couple of times.
"Shit... Still, let's go see it. I'll leave a sigil for her to find."
She made quick work to finish eating, barely taking any time to savor the food, and then grabbing her backpack to leave. Dahlia also made a mental note to pass by the mall and get some more clothes. As she was leaving the elevator and passing through the foyer, Dahlia failed to notice the man at the reception counter, just arriving for his dance class, and glancing at her like he was disappointed he wouldn't get to speak to her.
