Stevie, holding back tears of joy, took a deep breath and smiled at Tremaine. Her voice was filled with emotion as she began.
“Tremaine, from the very first moment, you’ve been my rock, my best friend, and my love. You’ve shown me what true love looks like—selfless, patient, and unwavering. With you, I’ve found a partner who challenges me, supports me, and loves me unconditionally.
“You’ve seen me at my best and my worst, and through it all, you’ve loved me just the same. You’ve taught me the true meaning of love, of partnership, of commitment. With you, I have found my home, my safe place, my everything.
“I promise to stand by your side, to support you, to encourage you, and to love you with all that I am. I promise to laugh with you, to cry with you, to dream with you, and to grow with you. I promise to be faithful and true to you, to cherish you, and to love you more each day.
“You said to me, you want matching PJs on the Christmas card, slow dancing in the kitchen at 3 AM, forehead kisses because you think I’m pretty, and flowers just because. And, Tremaine, I want that too, I want a lifetime of adventures, of shared dreams and quiet moments, of laughter and love. And I know we won't see eye to eye all the time, but I promise to never quit on you, or us. Because I'm in love with you, Tremaine, I appreciate the man you are, the way you love. I thank God every day for allowing me to walk into your office almost two years ago because as much as we couldn't stand one another in the beginning, fate knew what was best. And God had bigger plans for you and me, baby." She paused as she got choked up.
Tremaine sniffled away his tears. He squeezed Stevie's hands tighter in his own to comfort her.
Clearing her throat, she exhaled a heavy breath. And continued. ''So, I'm going to fight with you, on the side of you, and for you, Tremaine Maverick, like you did to love me, to be able to love me, and to make me love you, without doubt, or fear. But unconditionally, and genuinely. You never backed down or gave up. And I am indebted to you, kid. And I promise to cherish you, to grow with you, and to love you more each day. You are my heart, peace, and my forever. I love you, Tremaine, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, baby."
She paused, her voice breaking slightly as she added, “I love you so much, Tre.”
"I love you so much more, Stevie. You don't understand how you are an answered prayer for me, baby. Swear on my mother, you're a clear sign that God heard me amid my heartaches, silent cries, and frustration. I told him I never wanted to be hurt again, and if love wasn't in my future? Then I never wanted to love again, and now look, look. Wow—" The warm tears dripped from his trembling chin.
There wasn't a dry eye in the room. As people in almost every row dabbed at their eyes, their hearts swelled with admiration and praise, listening to the couple pour out their hearts to one another. In this beautiful togetherness. "You really like me, huh?'' Stevie teased with a lighthearted smile, as she sniffed.
Tremaine's cracked a slight side grin. "I guess I do, I mean I canceled all my meetings to be here today, rented this tuxedo, and paid for $4,840 worth of pink roses. so yeah I think I do." He joked back, earning a laugh from the crowd, even his bride-to-be giggled.
"Once we put on the rings this is it. We're one, we're locked in together, til death do us part, Mr. Maverick." She commented smiling.
He gave her the widest grin he muster. Having the gold teeth he had customized for the big day with Stevie's initials on them glistened under the sun. That caught Stevie by surprise and she couldn't stop smiling. "I been locked in with you, shorty, today and this wedding is only a display of our love for one another for the family and the people to see. But you been wifey since I saw you with that pink hair back at Myles's birthday? Yeah, I been peeped you, I was just wanting to make my move." He shrugged laughing.
