I'll try to post around once a week, but we'll see how we go.

A/n: As I was putting my story in here, I realised that an explanation may be needed. You are a teen reader, but because of your years of abuse and misuse, your brain is stuck at the age of a young child. Avengers x Fem!Reader

A week ago, The Avengers got a call about an operation being planned by Hydra. Apparently Hydra are shipping cargo that is critical to their plans. The best part is, it will be in the middle of the night and only a handful of Hydra agents will be there. So, The Avengers jump at the opportunity and go to the Docks that the evening it is to take place.

"Are you sure they're going to be here?" Nat asks.

"Of course they're gonna be here, Nat. They need whatever it is that is inside the cargo." Steve replies.

"Yeah, but how do we know it's going to be today?"

"I just saw people walk onto the boat dragging a giant crate. Shh."

"Main cargo is secure and ready to go, sir." The first person on the ship reported through an earpiece.

Clint shot an arrow from up above. No one on the boat was able to tell where it came from. Chaos erupted on the boat, allowing Nat to jump and disarm most of the attackers. The rest were dispatched by Clint.

"I had them, you know."
"Oh, yeah, sure you did, Nat, not like you were seriously getting overwhelmed by them." Clint chuckles, earning himself a glare from Nat.

The rest of the team arrived on the boat and they all gathered around to start searching the ship for the 'very special cargo' when Clint happened to see a large crate on deck with holes usually seen when transporting animal cargo.

"Uh, guys, I think I've found something." He calls. The team sprints towards him and, seeing the box, arrive at the same conclusion.

"They've started testing on animals?" Thor questions. "From what you've all told me, it doesn't seem like Hydra."

"No, Thor, it's not. Which is why I think someone's in there." Bucky says. "They must have perfected the Super Soldier Serum and created a human weapon." Just as they start to open the box, you stir inside, and the team cautiously approaches you.

"Hey, it's alright. What's your name?" Steve asks as he holds a hand out, trying not to scare you.

"Y/n." You mumble. You're scared, wet and cold. These people in front of you are not the people who were hurting you before, but you can't be too careful.

"Well, Y/n, I'm Steve. This is Nat, the man with the arrows is Clint and the man over there with the metal arm is Bucky. We're here to help you, okay." He comes a little closer and, at first, you shrink further into the corner, but quickly realise he doesn't want to hurt you. "Are you hungry?" He asks gently. You nod and, smiling, he holds out his hand. You gently grasp it and let him lead you out of the box.

You are about to exit the boat and Steve is telling you all about Stark Industries, the place that can become your new home, when a giant red and gold robot lands on the boat. You let out a whimper and dash into a dark corner, trying to hide from it. The robot starts to come closer, but you panic and wave your hand, making the air around it shimmer slightly purple and cause the robot to be dragged off the boat. Steve and his friends look at you with faces mixed with wonder, confusion and fear. You realise that they probably don't appreciate you using magic. You think that this may have ruined your chances of staying with them. Steve once more walks slowly towards you. Whether because he's scared or because he doesn't want to scare you, you don't know.

"Get away robot!" You gasp out.

"Y/n, hey, hey, it's okay, that. . . Robot was our friend, okay, he didn't know you were here and didn't mean to scare you." Steve assures you as he gets closer.

"I'm sorry, please, don't hurt me. . . I-I didn't know." Your eyes widen in surprise and then guilt fills them, before the robot flies out of the water and lands back on the boat.

"Tony, you might want to get out of the suit." Steve warns the robot. "You're scaring our friend." The robot opens itself to reveal a man inside who gets out.

"I'm sorry, let me introduce myself, I am Tony Stark, owner of Stark Industries and a genius, billionaire-"

"I think that's enough now, Tony." Turning to you, Steve continues. "Let's head back to the Tower and you can eat, shower, sleep and meet the rest of the team, okay. Also, if you'd like, we can get you checked out by our doctor." A panicked look crosses your face when he says that.

"No, no doctor!" You gasp and Steve nods.

"Okay, if you don't want a doctor, you don't need to see one." He reassures you.

When you arrive at the Tower or Stark Industries with Steve, Tony and the others who came with them, you'd opened up a bit more to Steve. Steve was the most interested in making sure you felt safe. Steve was your favourite out of everyone you'd met that day. You were led inside and, to your dismay, there were more people in what appeared to be a living room. They stood up and walked towards you and Steve. You shied away from them and ducked behind Steve as they grew closer.

"Guys, this is Y/n," Tony gestures to you, half hidden by Steve. They look at Tony and Steve and nod as if it was perfectly normal to have someone new hiding behind Steve.

A teenage, nerdy type boy excitedly enters the room. He doesn't even seem to notice the whole group looking at you. "OMG, you'll never believe what happened today at school. The whole school was called into a meeting because apparently a ship blew up at the Docks and they kept us in late to make sure it was safe enough to go home. Apparently something was taken from the ship around half-an-hour before it self-destructed." He stops, finally noticing that something is up. He glances around the room, before, finally, he spots you hiding. "Steve, why is a teenager in The Tower?"

"You're a teenager, kid." Tony points out. "Maybe we wanted to get you some company."

"Where'd you find her? What's her name? How old is she?" He questions.

"We found her on the boat that exploded." Steve explained.

"Wait, that was you! No one told me that we would explode a boat?!"

"Peter, we didn't know it was going to explode, we think one of the crew woke up and set the self-destruct to go off." Peter nods and bounds very enthusiastically over to you.

"Hi, I'm Peter Parker, I'm Spider-Man." He holds out his hand and you nervously shake it.

"Aren't you supposed to be, you know, a man?" You question, looking nervously down at your feet.

"Eh, just the name. Mr. Stark here likes to call me Spider-ling sometimes." You nod. He comes closer and you tense slightly before relaxing and let him approach. "Do you wanna see your room?"

------ Time skip ------

Months have passed and, with help from the team, you've learned to control your powers. Tony insisted that you speak with a therapist and you've been taking weekly appointments with one since. You're mind is starting to reach the age that its supposed to be at. You don't leave The Tower much, but you don't mind. There is always someone around to make sure that you're okay. Peter has become your best friend, not that there was much competition, and the two of you have been joined at the hip since you met. Your favourite thing to do is to pull pranks on the rest of the team. Something they are not very happy with. When you met Loki, though, the whole Tower was thrown into chaos with no one being able to survive the 'Reign of Terror' that occurs when he visits. Well, no one except for Pepper and Natasha, no one wants to mess with them. The Avengers have been educating you from The Tower and you're slowly making progress with your powers and normal human life. Life without Hydra.
