Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've been a little busy with school. Anywho, this oneshot is something I've had an idea about for a little while and I thought it was time to try and write it. Also I usually only write Fem!Readers.

Hydra's been defeated for about 2 years now. It's still a little hard for the Avengers, they don't like all this sitting around doing nothing. Yet, they're getting used to it. A few months after Hydra's defeat, Tony and Steve started getting on each others nerves more than usual, but no one thought anything of it. Until a new recruit showed up.

"Steve, Tony, I need you to get the others and call a meeting, we have something to discuss." Fury strode through the doors of Stark Industries, causing the two men to jump up, startled and greet him. Not noticing you silently shadowing Fury.  Tony asked FRIDAY to get the team into the meeting room and rode in the private lift with Fury. Steve used the public lift. Deciding it was better then staying in a small, enclosed space with Tony.
"So, what's wrong with Cap?" Fury asked as the lift started to rise. Tony just stared straight ahead, not answering anything. "So, you're not fighting? Because to me it seems-"
"We're fine, Fury." Tony curtly replied, not looking the older man in the eyes. "We just have some cabin fever." Inwardly you snorted. You knew enough about Tony Stark to know that he was lying. Fury wasn't buying it either but let the matter go, obviously knowing when to stop pressing on a matter. "So what's this meeting about?"
"Don't get cocky, Tony. Just because you called this meeting doesn't mean that you get extra privileges." Fury stated. Tony leaned back against the wall, pouting. Finally he noticed you.
"Does it include her?" Tony nodded his head at you.
Fury was silent for a moment. "Possibly." He finally acknowledged.

When the lift reached the floor of the Avengers' Penthouse, it stopped. You waited for Fury and Tony to exit before following after them. The pictures you had seen online did this place no justice, it was... magnificent. That was the only word you could think of for what, in your definition, is a lavish place to live. You want to question Tony about the Penthouse, but instead, silently follow him further in.
"I'm sure you're all wondering why I've summoned you here." Tony began, as he walked to the front of the room. The rest of the Avengers watched him. "Well, the answer to that is question, is...I don't know! Fury just stormed into the lobby and demanded that a meeting be called, so, Fury, take it away."
Fury sighed, but quickly strode to the front of the room. Subtly gesturing that you stay behind. You didn't mind. Being the centre of attention wasn't your strong suit. "I asked  Tony to call this meeting because I have something important to discuss. A few months ago, Shield decided that it was best to start training some new people. You know, get some new blood around. Anyway, as we were training we found an anomaly, Y/n. We've found that she has every power known to man. It was brought to my attention that, at Shield, we do not have the appropriate facilities to train her. So, will you take her?"
The man you'd seen before, Cap, stood up. "When do we get to meet her?"
"Right now, if you'd like, Steve. Y/n, come up the front." Hesitantly you walked towards the front of the room. It was strange, every eye in the room turned towards you. Studying you. "As you can see, she's only young, but she's extremely powerful and I'm sure that she'll make a great addition to the team. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a board meeting to attend to." Fury turned and briskly strode out of the meeting room, leaving you alone with the Avengers.

You'd spent over an hour in the meeting room with them, getting to know them and letting them get to know you, sort of. You were shown to your room and given some time to unpack. You needed some time to let it sink in. You'd shown up at Shield wanting to work as a normal person. Unfortunately, they'd needed to run some tests and make sure that you were fit for the job of being a Shield agent. The tests showed that you had powers. You were immediately taken to Fury's office to give a demonstration of your powers. Then, you were whisked away to Stark Industries, and told that you would be meeting with the Avengers for a trial period to see if you fit with them. You had no idea what would happen if they decided that you weren't the best fit.
"Y/n, dinner's on in the kitchen, if you're hungry." A voice called down the corridor. You're pretty sure that it belongs to the Sokovian, Wanda. You're best at matching names with faces, so you can't be certain.
"I'll be there in a sec." You called back. You look anxiously at your closet. You don't want to wear the gear you were given by Shield to dinner, but everything else looks too casual for your first dinner with the Avengers. You eventually gave up trying to find something and walked out of your room. You wandered around for a couple of minutes before realising you're lost. From what you've heard online, this place has some sick AI that's linked into every room, but you didn't know how to operate it. Just as you're starting to panic, a door opened and a young teen poked his head out, as if he'd heard your footsteps. He saw you and waved, looking slightly confused. You didn't see him with the rest of the Avengers in the meeting room, so you think that he's one of their kids.
"Hi, sorry, I'm new here and I got a little lost. Do you happen to know where the kitchen is?" You asked. The boy nodded enthusiastically and you followed him down the corridor.
"So, why are you here?" He questioned as we walk.
"Seeing if the Avengers can train me, you?" You say in response.
"I'm...I'm a superhero." He answered.
"Really, who?" You asked.
"I'm Spiderman."
"No, way, you're Spiderman?" He nodded his head and you tried not to gape in amazement. Out of all the superheroes you'd met that day, Spider-man was the one you were most amazed about. He quickly led you through the maze of corridors into a common room adjacent to a kitchen where everyone was serving themselves food or already eating. They all happily welcomed you and Spiderman into the room. There was food galore. It was the most food you'd seen since the last time you celebrated a big Christmas lunch with your whole family.

After you'd eaten your fill for dinner you decided to go back upstairs and finish unpacking. You hadn't had much time earlier. Steve intercepted you on your way up and spoke to you about training at the compound and maybe letting the team get a glimpse of your powers. Reluctantly you agreed.

The next morning you got woken up about an hour before dawn by banging on your door. "Y/n, get up, its time to train." Steve yelled from outside your door. You groaned but forced yourself up. You looked at your phone. 4:30am. You sighed, dragged yourself into the shower and got changed into the fighting gear Fury gave you on your first day.

"Nice of you to turn up." Steve said, smiling to take the sting out of his words. "Usually we would start with a couple of laps around the compound. That's where the others are, actually. But I thought maybe you could show me some of your powers so I know where you stand." You allowed him to show you to the dummies and then start shredding them to pieces, Steve's mouth hits the floor. You smirked and skilfully  behead the final dummy. The head rolled along the ground and came to a standstill at Steve's feet. "Well...That was impressive."

For the next couple of hours the two of you trained and sparred. Steve was good, he even surprised you a couple of times with his moves, but you managed to always be the last one left standing. Eventually he called it quits and you headed back to your room to have a shower.

Your training continued like this every day for a few weeks. You were very excited when Tony came and told you that you were ready for your first mission. It wasn't supposed to be a hard mission, just a little something to test how you went in the field and how you gelled with the team. The mission was to find an abandoned Hydra base and see if an intel on their plans could be gathered. You arrived to find that the base was crawling with Hydra soldiers who knew what your mission was and how it was to be executed. Tony, as the mission leader, ordered you to fight against the soldiers and see if there was a way to revive the plans. You knew it wasn't worth fighting against the soldiers, and that there was no chance the intel would be salvaged, or that there was any intel left at all, so you held back.

After the mission, you went down to your room quickly to get changed. When you made your way back to the common room, you heard the team talking about the mission, what went wrong and speculating on why you'd messed up. They didn't think that you were incompetent, but you didn't go as hard as they knew you could.

"You had your orders, Y/n." Tony snarls at you. "And you didn't follow through. Why?"
"I had other orders." You say simply.
"Whose orders? What orders are more important?"
"Hydra's." You say, standing taller, looking him straight in the eye, your dislike for him visible.
"You're working for Hydra?!" Steve demands. "Why? You've seen what they've done."
"As a child I was abandoned,  lied to by my parents." You sneer. "They left me in the woods alone in the middle of winter. Said if I was really 'normal' then you'd come and save me. I was alone in those woods for days, waiting, hoping you'd show, any of you, but you never came. Starving, cold and weak I had given up hope when I saw a figure in the distance. It was obvious that they knew I was in the woods, they were searching for me. I didn't care that they were from Hydra, they were the only people who seemed interested in helping me. They accepted me, cared for me. For the first time in my life I was wanted."

Tony tries to tell you how they didn't know you'd been left alone, but you aren't listening. There was nothing anyone could say to change your loyalties or how you felt about a certain group of people. "You've been so welcoming to me, it was nice of you to share your plans and show me your gadgets. Alexander Pierce will be so pleased to hear everything I've learned about The Avengers."

Tony lunges for you and you duck out of the way, using your powers to stop him from moving. With him immobilised, you take one last look around at everyone's stunned faces, before you jump out the window and shift into smoke.

A couple of days later you check in on the compound, keeping yourself invisible. Tony and Steve are at each others throats about what happened. The others are finally taking sides. You smirk and flew back to Hydra to report to Pierce.

Sorry it's a bit long, I got part way through it and realised it would be impossible to keep it short. Hope you enjoyed it! I'm considering writing a part 2.
