Lucy POV:

the final training session before the Christmas break was always a mix of high energy and anticipation. this year was no different, even though I was at a new team.

Arsenal were second in the league, and I was the leading goal scorer for the club, something I was incredibly proud of.

the atmosphere was electric as we came off the field and headed towards the locker room, everyone buzzing with the excitement of the upcoming holidays.

"alright ladies" Jonas called out, clapping his hands. "great session today, enjoy your break, and come back ready to continue our strong season"

we all cheered.

as we gathered our things, Beth and Katie suggested going out to celebrate.

"lets have a Christmas night out! we've earned it" Beth exclaimed

everyone quickly agreed, and we made plans to meet up later that evening. as we left the facility half an hour later, we all separated to go home and get ready.

Leah had offered to pick me up on her way to the bar, which I was quick to agree to.

I quickly drove home to my new apartment and hopped in the shower.

after a quick hair wash, I threw some food in the oven and scurried back to my bedroom to chose an outfit.

after about an hour, as I was finishing getting ready, I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find Leah standing there, looking stunning.

Leahs outfit:

I invited her in quickly as I just put the last few things in my bag and put on my shoes

"great, lets go" Leah responded opening the door and holding it for me

I felt a flutter of nerves that had nothing to do with the night out and everything to do with how Leah looked at me

Leah left her car at mine, and we ordered an uber to the bar where we were meeting the team.

the night was cold, but the festive lights strung up around London added a warmth that made everything feel magical.

London was becoming my home, and I was staring to forget about the mess that I left behind in America

Leah took my hand as she lead us through the bar to where the team was sat, dropping my hand just as we reached everyone.

the team was in high spirits, and drinks were flowing freely

"to a great first Half of the season!" Beth toasted and we all raised our glasses and cheered. the night quickly turned into a blur of laughter, dancing, and a lot of drinking.

Leah and I stuck together most of the night, dancing and chatting with the others. I couldn't help but notice the way her eyes would linger on me, and it made my heart race, I didn't know what was happening, but I didn't care.

as the bar started to get busy, Leah and I found ourselves on the dance floor, inching closer and closer.

the rest of the team were nowhere to be seen, probably causing trouble somewhere, and it was just the two of us.

Leah put her hand on my waist, and looked into my eyes "is this okay" she asked calmly

I nodded, trying not to break eye contact

I could feel the warmth of her body against mine, and the world seemed to shrink down to just the two of us.

"Lucy," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the music.

"Yeah?" I replied, my heart pounding.

Before I knew it, her lips were on mine, soft and tentative. I kissed her back, the world around us fading away. It was as if time had stopped, and it was just the two of us, lost in the moment. The kiss deepened, and I felt a rush of emotions that I'd never experienced before. It was exhilarating and terrifying all at once.

When we finally pulled away, we were both breathless. Leah looked at me with a mix of surprise and something else—something that made my heart flutter even more.

"I've wanted to do that for a while," she admitted, her cheeks flushed.

"Me too," I confessed, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. It felt so good to finally acknowledge what I'd been feeling.

We stood there for a moment, the music and the crowd around us a distant blur. Then, as if on cue, the tempo of the music picked up again, and we were pulled back into the energy of the club. But something had changed between us, something that made everything feel different and new.

The rest of the night was a whirlwind. We danced and laughed, stealing glances and touches that sent shivers down my spine. When the night finally came to an end, Leah and I left the club together, the cold air a stark contrast to the warmth of her hand in mine.

We didn't talk much on the ride back to my apartment, but the silence was comfortable. When we arrived, Leah walked me to my door.

"Tonight was amazing," I said, not wanting the night to end.

"It was," she agreed, her eyes locking onto mine. "Can I see you tomorrow? Maybe we could get lunch or something?"

"I'd love that, but I have to go and see my family, my brother has arrived for Christmas" I replied, seeing the visible disappointment on Leahs face

"that's fine, I'll see you soon" she responded, trying not to seem disappointed

She leaned in and gave me a quick, soft kiss. "Goodnight, Lucy."

"Goodnight, Leah," I said, watching her walk away, my heart feeling lighter than it had in a long time.
