Lucy POV:

I was at the airport waiting for megs and holly, early, of course. on time was late for me, and this was no different.

I had borrowed mums car as I still dont have one here in London, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of my two best friends.

Leah had offered to drive me and pick them up, but I thought that it was best that I do it on my own first, partly because I hadn't told them about her yet, and I guess I was just getting in my head about the whole thing

dont get me wrong, I do really like Leah, and im excited to see how things go, but I couldn't help but feel that we were attached at the hip. of course we had our own things going on, but when we were both free, we were together. I think it's just because I'm used to my past relationship. George and I were so comfortable and secure, and we always came home to each other at the end of the day.

I wasn't used to this 'honeymoon' phase that Leah and I were in.

I was lost in my thoughts when a voice called my name, it was the girls. the joy I was feeling was evident in my shriek as I embraced them both. I had missed them so much, a tear even ran down my face.

this was exactly what I needed right now, it couldn't of come at a better time.

we chatted the whole way back home, we laughed, we cried, we sang, everything was just right.

45 minutes later we were back at my apartment building tucking into a glass of wine

"ive missed this" Megan said as we cheersed

we talked about everything. they caught me up on the gossip back home, who's dating who and who's doing what. George came up in conversation a few times, we were all in the same friendship group back in America, so it was expected. Megan and Holly didn't ask about it once though, which was a little weird. I hadn't told them the full story either, I told them the same story that I told my family, thinking if it was to be believed id have to stick to it.

"luce, your really starting to lose your accent" holly commented

"really? Leah bullies me for it all the...." I trailed off, realising I was going to have some explaining to do. it was only after I stopped talking that if I had just continued my sentence then there probably wouldn't

"Leah hey, is that who's got you checking your phone every 30 seconds" Megan mocked

I couldn't help but blush " you guys dont care that im kinda half dating, I dont even know what label to put on it, a woman"

"luce why on earth would we care" holly said

"I dont know, your two opinions just mean the world to me" I shyly said

"so, when are we going to meet her" Megan butted in, lifting the mood

"tomorrow, we dont really have a plan yet, but im thinking dinner then i got us all tickets to watch the fireworks from that rooftop bar"

"you didn't" holly said

she'd talked about this place she saw on TikTok once practically every day when she found out I was moving to London. it was right on the thames and had a perfect view of the fireworks display, so I couldn't not book it for us, Leah booked some last minute tickets for her and Alex as well, god knows how since I struggled to get them myself.

"how about you two, what are the love lives saying" I knew this was a silly question. I had always been the only in the relationship, these two couldn't commit to anything that lasted longer than a month

I think it's how I stayed in a relationship for so long. I didn't feel the need to sleep around, do the one night stands, date random people, date multiple people at once, or anything like that, because I lived it through these two.

we always told each other every single detail, sometimes one too many details.

my life was always the boring one though, there wasn't many details to share on my behalf. even when there was details to share, like George's abusiveness, I never did, that's something I kept to myself. they'd of told me to leave, they wouldn't of understood.

I think the two of them were as excited as me for this new chapter in my life

"does Leah know what shes getting herself into with us three tomorrow" the two joked

"I have warned her, but I dont think she realises" I respond

As the evening wore on, the wine kept flowing and the conversation continued. We reminisced about old times, sharing stories and memories that brought both laughter and a few tears. It felt so good to be surrounded by my best friends, the people who knew me better than anyone else in the world.

Eventually, the conversation drifted back to Leah. Holly leaned forward, a mischievous glint in her eye. "So, tell us more about this Leah. What's she like?"

I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me at the thought of her. "She's amazing. She's kind, funny, and really passionate about football. She's got this way of making me feel special, you know? And she's great with people. She fit right in with my family."

Megan nodded approvingly. "She sounds perfect for you, Luce. I'm so happy for you."

"Thanks," I said, feeling a little shy under their intense scrutiny. "I really like her. I think this could be something really special."

Holly and Megan exchanged a look, then turned back to me, their expressions serious. "Just promise us one thing," Holly said. "Be honest with her. Don't keep things bottled up like you did with George. If there's one thing we've learned from all this, it's that communication is key."

I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I promise. I don't want to make the same mistakes again."

"Good," Megan said, her tone softening. "Now, let's finish this wine and get some sleep. We've got a big day tomorrow."

We spent a few more minutes finishing our drinks and tidying up before heading to bed. As I lay there, my mind buzzed with excitement and anticipation for the days ahead. Holly and Megan's visit was already off to a fantastic start, and I couldn't wait to see what the rest of their time here would bring.

And more than anything, I was looking forward to introducing them to Leah and starting this new chapter of my life with my best friends by my side.
