Lucy POV:

the next morning, I woke wit ha sense of excitement and a bit of nerves, along with a major headache from the night before.

My brother and his wife, Alice, were here for Christmas, so we mum and dad had planned a big family day.

As I got ready to head over to my parents' house, I couldn't help but think about Leah. Our kiss on the dance floor had left me feeling a mix of happiness and uncertainty. I'd never dated a girl before, and while everything with Leah felt right, I was still unsure about how my family would react.

my past relationship with George didn't help, I didn't even know if I was ready to move on.

When I arrived at my parents' house, the familiar warmth of home enveloped me. My dad greeted me at the door with a big hug, and I could hear the laughter of my brother, Joe, and his wife, Alice, coming from the kitchen.

"Hey, Luce!" Joe called out when he saw me. He walked over and gave me a bear hug, lifting me off the ground. "It's so good to see you."

"You too, Joe," I laughed, hugging him back. Alice followed, pulling me into a warm embrace.

After exchanging greetings, we all settled into the living room for a bit before lunch. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas, with twinkling lights and a large, ornament-laden tree standing proudly in the corner.

My mom had gone all out, preparing a feast that smelled incredible. We sat down to a table laden with roasted meats, vegetables, and all the trimmings. The conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and stories of the past year. We hadn't all been in the same room for so long, it was nice, really nice.

After lunch, we decided to go for a walk to enjoy the crisp winter air. We strolled through the nearby park, bundled up in coats and scarves, the cold air biting at our cheeks. The park was picturesque, with a light dusting of snow on the ground and children playing, their laughter filling the air.

As we walked, I found myself gravitating toward Alice. She had always been like an older sister to me, someone I could confide in.

"How have you been, Lucy?" she asked, linking her arm through mine.

"I've been good," I replied, smiling. "Settling into life in London and loving playing for Arsenal."

"That's wonderful to hear," she said. "We're so proud of you, you know."

"Thanks, Alice," I said, feeling a warmth spread through me.

When we returned home, it was mid-afternoon, and we all settled in the living room, sipping on hot chocolate and continuing our conversations. It felt good to be surrounded by family, but I couldn't shake the feeling of nervousness that had been building up inside me.

we decided to play a bunch of board games, which usually ended in argument. we were such a competitive family, and it always came out on family game nights, today was no different

"I think that's enough of that" mum said, getting annoyed at the sight of her three children arguing and raising their voice over who won.

We all fall back into our seats and continued the family conversations

"how's George, luce, have you herd from him at all" mum asked. we were such a close family that I didn't feel invaded by this question.

"no, not really, the odd text but nothing major" I responded

I knew mum wanted to know the whole story, I could see the cogs turning in her head. it was weird that I never really told her why we broke up, or even some made up story to avoid telling her the real reason. I never really addressed it at all.
