“What do you mean you're missing science?” I frowned as Kimberley stood in front of me, tying my tie for me. She had just told me that she wouldn't be in science today and I didn't know why.

It was Friday and both Kimberley and I had made it through the week without getting into any more trouble from our science teacher.

“I've got a drama meeting, I'm sorry.” She pinched my cheek before walking over to her bed and slipping her blazer on.

“I don't think I can make it through the class without you, can you not just skip your meeting?” Kimberley was such a teachers pet and she loved drama so I doubted that she was going to skip it, but it was worth a try.

“I can't!” She shot an apologetic look at me as she tied my tie for me. “I need to go, I didn't get given the choice! I'll try to leave as soon as I can.”

The bell rang and both Kimberley and I walked out of our room and down the corridors that were now filling with people.

“Please don't get into trouble, Chezza!” She pleaded as I we stood outside the science class. That's something I liked about Kimberley, she actually cared about me and wanted me to do well.

“No promises,” I smirked. “But I suppose I'll try. Now, you better get to that meeting. You don't want to be late.”

“Okay, I'm going. See you later, Tweedster!” She called over her shoulder

“Bye Walshster! Be back soon!” I called back, earning a few stares from people around me. “What the f*ck are you looking at?” I yelled before walking into the classroom.

I had been in science for thirty minutes and Kimberley still hadn't walked in yet. How long could a drama meeting take? All you did was talk, listen and leave. It wasn't that hard! I was doing my best to stay out of trouble, but it was proving difficulty as Mr Davidson kept picking on me for every single question. The man needed to get a life or a girlfriend or something! Thankfully, he walked out the class to go and get something. At least I would be free for a couple of minutes!

“Oi, Cheryl!” Sarah tapped me on the shoulder, making me turn around. “We've not seen you in ages! Where have you been?”

“I've been busy... sorry.” I smiled apologetically to my three friends.

“Busy with what?” Nicola asked. “You've never been busy before.”

“I've been plotting to take over the world!” I replied sarcastically. “I've been busy with school work and homework... did none of you have any?”

“Yeah, course we did.” Nadine rolled her eyes. “But we didn't do it... we never do. Since when did you start doing it?”

“It's because of that new girl isn't it? What's her name Kelly or something?” Sarah interrupted.

“No,” Nicola shook her head. “It's Kim, isn't it?”

“It's Kimberley.” I snapped at them both. “And it has nothing to do with her.”

“Alright Cheryl, no need to get so protective over her.” Nadine was trying to calm the situation down. “You've been spending a lot of time with her lately...”

“So, what are you trying to get at Nads?”

“Nothing, it's just... she's doing nothing good for your image or reputation around here. She's like a model student and you're not. If you start hanging around and acting like her then people aren't going to respect you as much.”
