It was two weeks since Kimberley had moved to the school, and the two of us had become a lot closer. We'd spent every moment we could together, getting to know each other, she still hadn't told me all about her life, but I didn't mind. I knew she'd tell me when she was ready too.

“You've dressed up. What's the special occasion?” Kimberley asked when I walked out of the bathroom with my short black dress on.

“There's a party tonight... did I not tell you?” I rummaged around under my bed, trying to find black heels to go with it.

“No, you never mentioned it.”

“Oh, well I meant to. Do you want to come?” I turned to face her. She was sitting on her bed gazing at me.

“No, I don't really like parties. There's too many people and they're too much effort. Besides, you're not meant to leave school grounds, are you?”

“You're not meant to, but we do it any way. Please come, it will be boring without you...” I did my best puppy dog eyes impression and it seemed to work.

“Fine,” She sighed. “I swear though, if anything bad happens, I'm blaming you!”

“Nothing bad is gonna happen.” I reassured her. “I promise I'll look after you.”

The party was in full swing by the time Nadine, Nicola, Sarah, Kimberley and I all got there. Sarah instantly ran off to where the drink was and Nadine went away to find her boyfriend, only leaving the three of us. We all made our way over to the dance floor and began dancing. I could tell Kimberley was a bit nervous, so I grabbed her hand whilst we danced so there was no way I would lose her.

“Are you guys wanting a drink?” Nicola shouted over the music. We had been dancing for a while now and we really needed one.

“Yes please Nic, just get my usual and get Kimberley one too!” She nodded and weaved her way through all the people.

I turned my attention back to Kimberley, who was looking at me funny. “What you looking at? A picture will last longer.” I teased.

“You called me Kimberley, what happened to calling me Kimba?”

“Well, I didn't want anyone else to steal our nicknames. They're special.” I replied as I moved closer to her. “You having fun?”

“It's not too bad. I'm glad you've stayed with me.” She smiled shyly.

“Of course I stayed with you Kimba, you're my best friend!”

She couldn't help but smile widely. “Am I really your best friend?” Her eyes were sparkling with happiness,

“Aye, you are. I know we've not known each other that long, but I trust you more than anyone in the world. I'm so glad you decided to come to this school. Is there something wrong with that like?”

“No,” she shook her head. “I've just never, erm, had a best friend before.”

“Here you go girls!” Nicola danced her way back over to us. Thrusting a drink in our hands. “You'll never guess what! Sarah's got herself a lad, I saw them sucking each other's faces off. It was disgusting!”

“Well, maybe this guy will be able to tame her.” I joked as both me and Nicola took a sip of our drinks.

“Oh please, you can't tame Hardcore Harding! Anyway, I'm going to find Nads, I'll see you both later!”

I turned to Kimberley, who's hand I was still holding. She hadn't touched her drink yet. To be honest, I didn't think she was much of a drinker any way.
