I was sitting on my bed as I waited impatiently for Kimberley to arrive. We were back at school now, I had been in our dorm for just over two hours and she had just text me saying she would be here soon. I couldn't wait to see her again, I had missed her so much! I wasn't ashamed to admit that I needed Kimberley. After everything that had happened with my family, I wanted her care free attitude, her calming approach and her cuddles back. She made me feel better.

Things hadn't exactly got any better when my dad moved in. Joe and Gillian decided not to talk to him, and Gary was very shy around him. I just acted as if he wasn't really there and I only spoke to him when he spoke to me. I had a feeling he wouldn't be around very long though because three days after moving in, I heard him and my mam arguing. It was about something stupid, but that's how all their arguments started. I didn't want to leave Gary with them, but he promised to text me every night and keep me updated on them. That was good enough for me, but I had warned him that if anything bad happened, I was coming home to look after him.

There was a knock on my door and I immediately sat up on my bed, I was hoping it was Kimberley. The door opened to reveal Sarah, Nicola and Nadine all smiling at me. I smiled half-heartedly back at them, but I was upset that it wasn't Kimberley. They ran over to me and hugged me before talking all about their time back home. I tried to listen to them, but my thoughts took over, making me think about Kimberley again. I checked my phone every so often, just to make sure that she hadn't text me yet.

The door slammed, jolting me awake. I had fallen asleep after the girls had left an hour or so ago. I quickly sat up and rubbed my eyes. Standing in front of me was Kimberley, smiling excitedly at me. I jumped off my bed and ran over to her, throwing my arms around her.

“I'm so glad you're back!” I squealed as I hugged her tightly, burying my face into her soft hair. I inhaled her familiar scent, I had missed it so much.

“Me too, I've missed you so much!” She replied as she hugged me back.

“You can't resist the Tweedster, can you?” I joked, making her cheeks turn a deeper shade of red than they were before.

“Oh, shut up! You were the one who said  that they liked hearing my voice before they went to sleep. You're the one who can't resist me!”

“Whatever Kimba, believe what you want to believe, but I know the truth.” She pulled away from the hug and I frowned at her, missing the contact.

“I'm gonna go in the shower.” She explained when she saw the look on my face. “Then we can talk about stuff.”

I sat back on my bed as she rummaged through her suitcases for a few things before disappearing into the bathroom.

We were both sitting cross-legged on our beds in our pyjamas with a cup of tea in our hands. We both had a pack of biscuits too, it was a perfect way to spend out first night back.

“So, how are things with your dad?” Kimberley asked me before taking another biscuit out from the packet and shoving it in her mouth.

I shrugged my shoulders not really knowing what to say. “I don't know, they were arguing before I left. Something tells me he won't be staying around very long, but I could be wrong. I've got Gary keeping me posted about it all though.” Not wanting to dwell on it any further, I decided to change the subject. “So how has your time off been?”

“Very quiet without you annoying me!” She answered, sticking her tongue out at me. “It was actually pretty boring to be honest. My family insisted that I spent every day with them, I felt so trapped!”

“Aww babe.” I shot her a sympathetic smile. “At least you're back here now.”

“Yeah, I've really missed being with you.” She admitted shyly.

“I've missed you too. Now come over here and give me a cuddle.” I opened my arms wide as her body came into contact with mine. She snuggled into me, resting her head on my shoulder as I wrapped my arms around her small waist.

I watched Kimberley intently as she battled to keep her eyes open. We had been lying side by side in my bed for a few hours now, just talking about everything that had happened over the past couple of weeks. It was late now, and I could tell Kimberley was finding it hard to stay awake.

“Do you want to go to bed?” I asked her as I stroked her arm tentatively.

“No, I'm fine.” She mumbled sleepily in reply. Her grip around my waist tightened, pulling me closer to her. She buried her face into my neck, and her small warm breathes sent shivers throughout my whole body.

“Kimba, you're falling asleep on me.” I giggled, trying to get rid of the nervous feeling that was in my stomach. “You should go to your bed.”

“I don't want to move, can I sleep here?” I think she must have been embarrassed to ask because I felt her dig deeper into my neck.

“Yeah, if you want.” I replied, acting as if it was no big deal.

“Thanks, Chezza.” She lifter her head up and kissed me on the cheek before settling back down. A few minutes later, her breathing slowed and I knew she was asleep.

With my hand that wasn't wrapped around Kimberley's body, I stroked my cheek where she had kissed me with it. Kimberley had actually kissed me. I couldn't believe it. I knew that she was just my best friend, but when she kissed me, it felt different from when anyone else had ever done it. I looked down to her sleeping body, she looked so peaceful and beautiful. Taking her hand in mine, I brought it to my lips and kissed it. Did I have feelings for her? Did she have feelings for me? Was I thinking too much about it all? All these questions were running through my mind, I was so confused and didn't know what to do.
