Kimberley and I were on the train back home to visit my family for Christmas. She was sleeping with her head resting on my shoulder, and I was staring out the window, not really knowing what to do with myself. I turned my attention to Kimberley, she was still sleeping peacefully with a content smile on her face. She was beautiful.

Ever since we got back to school and Kimberley had kissed me on the cheek, my feelings for her had grown. They had grown so much that they scared me. She was my best friend, was I allowed to think about her all the time? Was it normal for her to climb into my bed at night or for me to go into hers? Was she meant to kiss me at the corner of my mouth instead of on the cheek when we were saying our goodbyes? I was confused and I didn't know how to speak to Kimberley about the problem.

Sighing to myself, I turned and looked back out of the window, trying to get my mind off everything.

“Kimba, we're here.” I shook her gently as the train came to a stop in the train station. Kimberley stirred slightly, before opening her eyes.

“Have I been asleep the whole journey?” She asked as she slowly stood up, stretching her arms above her head.

“Yeah, you've been sleeping on my shoulder the whole time.” I replied, not taking my eyes off of her.

“I'm sorry, it must have been a long journey for you! You should have woke me up.”

“Don't worry about it, babe.” I opened my arms wide and Kimberley gave me a cuddle. “We better get off the train now, the taxi is waiting outside.” I informed her as I pulled away. We grabbed our suitcases and exited the train.

After paying the driver, Kimberley and I got out of the taxi and got our bags from the boot of the car. We walked up the small path to my house and stopped outside of it. Kimberley grabbed my hand tightly, not letting go of it.

“Is someone a bit nervous?” I smirked as I raised a questioning eyebrow at her.

“Just a bit, what if they don't like me Chezza?”

“They're gonna love you Kimba, there's nothing to be worried about.” I leaned over and kissed the tip of her nose, causing her to laugh. I don't know if it was because of the cold, but her cheeks also turned a deeper shade of red. “You feeling better now?”

“No, not really.” She admitted truthfully. “I'm scared.”

“It's only my family, there is nothing to be scared about.” I laughed. “Why are you bothered if they like you or not anyway? Their opinion doesn't even matter. You're my best friend and I don't give a sh*t if they like it or not.”

“It's just that they're your family, and I know they're important to you so I want them to like me.”

“Aww you're so cute!” I joked as I pinched her cheek. “Seriously, don't worry about it.”

“I'm trying not to.”

“I've got a way to keep your mind off it...”

“Really, and what way would that be?” She was smirking playfully at me, she knew what I meant. I leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips and pulled away a few seconds later.

“Take your mind off it?”

She nodded in reply and I took her hand in mine again before opening the front door to the house. As soon as we were inside, I was met by my Mam, Gary, Gillian and Joe. They all paid attention to Kimberley, to be honest I felt a bit left out. I looked over at Gary who was staring dreamily at her, he definitely had a crush on her.
