Sitting up in bed, I looked down at Kimberley who was still sleeping. Her hair was all over her face, covering it, but she still looked beautiful to me, she always did. Getting out of the bed, I moved the covers so that they were over her before leaving the room. Since I was the first one up, I decided that I would go and have a shower and then make me and Kimberley some breakfast.

As I waited for the kettle to boil, I looked out of the window, it was snowing. I loved the snow, and I could feel a goofy grin creep on my face as I continued to look outside, I was going to drag Kimberley out in it later no matter what!

I sat on the edge of my bed stroking Kimberley's golden hair, waiting for her to wake up. She was a deep sleeper, and it was hard to wake her up. I didn't want to wake her up suddenly though, I wanted to do it gently and peacefully, but it was taking ages! She stirred slightly as I brushed a lock of her hair away from her face and then kissed her softly on both of her cheeks and then her nose.

“Kimba?” I said, seeing whether or not she was asleep still.

“Hmm?” Came her sleepy reply as she brought her hands up to her face to rub her eyes. They fluttered open a few seconds later and she smiled when she saw me.

“I made you some breakfast.” I stated proudly, handing her a cup of tea and a plate of toast I had brought up with me. “I did it all by myself, no help at all.”

“Thanks babe.” She yawned as she sat up, taking the plate and cup from me. “It looks good. For once you actually didn't burn it!”

I laughed at her response before picking up my own plate and cup and began to eat my breakfast. We sat in a comfortable silence as we ate, but I broke it when I remembered what I was so excited about earlier. “It's snowing outside you know.”

“Really?” Kimberley asked, excitement shining in her eyes. She craned her neck to look out of the window, and when she turned around, she was wearing the goofy grin that I had on in the kitchen. She was just as excited as I was. “Well, we'll just have to go out and play in it later.”

“Really?”

“Yeah!”

“Pinky promise?”

“Pink promise.” She confirmed, linking her pinky with mine.

I gazed at the burning flames as I lay on the rug in front of the fire. My family were all sitting on the sofas around me, watching tv. Kimberley was upstairs getting ready so that we could go outside and play in the snow in the garden, she was taking ages!

“Oi Cheryl, where is your girlfriend?” Joe's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned to look at him, he was grinning at me, mocking me.

“My what?” I asked him, making sure I had heard him correctly. I was aware that all my family had stopped watching the tv, and were looking at me and Joe, interested in our conversation.

“Don't play stupid Cheryl. You know exactly what I said!” I knew he was winding me up, and it was working. As far as I was concerned, I didn't have a girlfriend. I had Kimberley, but she wasn't my girlfriend yet. I didn't even know if she was mine. All I knew was that I cared about her and she made me feel happy and safe when I was with her.

“You're right, I heard what you said. I just don't understand what you're going on about.”

“Oh come on sis!” He laughed loudly. “I'm your big brother. I'm not stupid. I know what is going on!” My family joined in laughing with Joe.
