Light shone in through the window where the curtains did not cover. A delightful reminder that the morning comes no matter how bad the night before was. Even when the night wasn't so bad after all.
I carefully studied the face, facing my very own. The blond strands of hair framed his face. I have never seen Brett so still and care free. His face always crushed in some sort of way. Either of joy or worry. He had a calm demeanour. Jaw clenched and stood tall. No matter the situation. I admired that about him. My expression always deceived me. I could not hide, even if my own life depended on it.
His lips were smooth and slightly pink. They were shaped in such a delicate manner. Without realising, I saw myself being drawn to him. The urge to close the very small space keeping us apart. I pressed my lips against his sleepy one. Holding on for less than a second. Would be considered more of a peck.
As I pulled away his eyes fluttered open. A smug smile painting all over him. My cheeks were burning after being caught. There has always been an underlying embarrassment of showing affection. It's like openly showing to the world your feelings. It's the small pocket of time where you are utterly vulnerable. There is something beautiful and tragic about that. Can't be explained with words.
"Hey," Brett whispered.
I could no longer contain my glee. I smiled bright like a child with his candy.
"Hi."
I watched him stretch out. His long body curl up again. I looked around. The unbearable feeling I felt last night was gone. No ringing, or any vivid vision. It was good to be back to my old self. Lately, I tend to loose my self in the chaos of it all.
I didn't want it to end. The carefree feeling Brett brought back to me. I haven't felt like this since before I knew about people like Liam and Scott. Ever since that time, I had to watch my back.
"Want to skip school?" I blurted put half yawning.
"I don't have my uniform anyway," the blond boy stated. Which was true. It's not exactly one of the wisest things to do. It's directly violation of the dress code. Having to use other people forgotten clothes and detention is not the ideal way to spend a day.
I went into the bathroom. Hastily making myself ready to leave. I rushed down stairs.
"Ma," I yelled hiding my body beside my face behind a wall to speak to my mother.
Unexpectedly my stepdad was there. "Not your ma." He mimicked my voice.
"Hey dad, can I lend your car?" I asked.
"Yes you can, but you have to pick me up seven a clock tonight from work."
"Sure do boss." I made my way upstairs to see Brett already ready to go. I told him he had to use the window. None of my family members could know he was here. My room was on second floor. If I ever attempt to jump out of it, it would be an awkward situation to explain to the doctor, after I have broken every bone in my body.
