Today was the day. DogDay was going to see exactly how long CatNap could sleep for. The canine had gotten Bubba to help with said experiment since he wasn't the best at taking notes and making sure that everything would go smoothly. It was noon when they decided to start said experiment.

"Ready, Kitty?" DogDay asked him

CatNap yawned and held a thumbs up.

"You can start." Bubba told the feline

CatNap laid down on his bed and curled up into a ball and got as comfortable as possible. It only took him about a minute to be fully asleep. Just to be sure that he was asleep DogDay called his name.

"He falls asleep very quickly." Bubba comments jotting down the time in which he fell asleep after starting said experiment

"It's because of the lavender. It affects him as well." DogDay told Bubba

"I have a question to ask you if that's okay with you."

"I'm an open book you know that." DogDay smiled

"I noticed a picture of you and CatNap on his little board downstairs. I know it isn't recent. Did you know CatNap before moving here?"

"Apparently. I didn't know until I found the picture while I was doing some Spring cleaning. He told me the story behind it, I had no idea that we had history together." DogDay explained

Bubba hummed, "So you were a celebrity as well?"

"Not really. I did small acting gigs and sang background vocals for a few songs. I wanted to be famous and while auditioning for a small role in a show one of the directors noticed that I smelt like vanilla. He asked me and my mom if I was wearing perfume or something, she told him the truth. He told me that I was unique and would be perfect for a different role. Soon enough I rose in the ranks. But I stepped down after a few 2 cause my mental health was going down the drain. My parents never pushed me to do something I didn't want to do and I'm grateful for that."

"That's good." Bubba told him smiling, "Your mental health is important. I wished that CatNap's parents understood that."

"Some parents are too busy living vicariously through their children to realize that it's harming them."

DogDay stretched and was about to get up when CatNap's tail wrapped around his waist and pulled him close to the feline. Bubba held back his laughter and wrote it down.

"Don't take notes, help me." DogDay pleaded

"You two nap together anyway, why is this time any different?" Bubba asked him

"Cause I don't want to sleep right now. The lavender gets stronger when he's asleep." DogDay struggled less and eventually laid down, "Don't let me sleep."

"No promises." Bubba told him with a smile

DogDay was about to say something when the window to CatNap's house broke. Bubba and DogDay both stared at Kicken who was semi conscious thanks to the helmet he was wearing.

"Are you okay?" DogDay asked him

Kicken gave him a thumbs up, "Thought I could jump the house."

"Idiot." Bubba muttered, "Can you get out without hurting yourself?"

Kicken through about it for a moment before shifting his weight. He stopped feeling as if he was being stabbed, "No, not without tearing my stomach open."

"I'll go and help him from the other side." Bubba got up placing his notes down

Kicken shook his head to stay awake and looked at the two, "How come I wasn't invited to the sleepover?"

"It isn't a sleepover it's a test." DogDay told him looking up at the avian

"A test? What kind of test involves sleeping?"

"Well according to CatNap he can sleep all day long. So now we're trying to see if that's true. He fell asleep at noon and stayed asleep."

"Are you sure he isn't dead?"

DogDay gave him an unamused stare, "He's alive. That's all that matters."

Kicken shook his head once more, "I think I have a concussion."

DogDay didn't say anything as he saw Bubba come up behind the chicken and assess the situation he had gotten himself into.

"How did you manage this?" Bubba demands

"Did you see the ramp outside?" Kicken asked him

"I did."

Kicken stayed quiet letting them put two and two together.

"We talked about this! You can't jump the houses because they're too big and you can get seriously injured while landing if you do manage it." Bubba scolded him

"Listen this was a practice run." Kicken chuckled

Bubba somehow managed to get Kicken unstuck and the avian unceremoniously landed on his back right in front of DogDay and CatNap.

He sat up and he tried to stay focused on DogDay, but they couldn't. He definitely had a concussion.

"Bubba can you check out Kicken. He might be concussed?" DogDay asked him

"Already making my way inside!" He shouted from outside

Soon enough the blue elephant was back inside and dragged Kicken off to the side. DogDay looked at CatNap who was still asleep even though all of that. He moved a few stay glass shards off of the bed and the blanket. CatNap's ear flicked and he started to purr.

DogDay smiled as he was pulled closer to the feline. Breathing in the heavy scent of lavender made him dizzy, but he loved it. He loved it since day one. Since he was little.

"Are you still awake DogDay?" He heard Bubba ask him

"I am." He muttered, "How's Kicken?"

"He has a mild concussion. We need him to stay awake so why don't you tell him a story. I'm not good at it."

DogDay managed to tear himself away from the feline and thought of a story. He decided to tell a true story about himself, but he changed the names of people.

Kicken wouldn't know that it's about him so his secret was safe. He had to make sure that he didn't get caught up in the story and reveal everything in a single go. Maybe this will also help himself remember exactly when and how he met CatNap all those years ago.

"Okay Kicken listen up, this isn't your ordinary story about princes, princesses, and fire breathing dragons. Nope this is a story about Vanilla."

"Like the plant?" Kicken asked as Bubba tapped his cheek to keep him awake

"Nope. He was a person. And he was unhappy with his life. So he changed it around to make himself and those around him happy as well."
