chapter eight

"You look really nice," Briar said, sitting in the carriage with Carlos and Dude.
"Oh, thank you," he said smiling as she smiled. "You look beautiful."
Briar smiled as she petted Dude. The blonde was wearing a beautiful blue ballgown that was off the shoulder with light blue lace flowers on the torso and on the bottom of the dress with white heels. Her long blonde hair was curled to perfection and left down as she had a silver-blue eyeshadow on with a glossy lip and light blush on her cheeks with silver highlighter on her nose and cheekbones.
"Thank you," she said smiling.
"I have something for you," Carlos said as Briar looked at him.
"For me?" she asked as Carlos nodded.
"Yeah," he said, pulling out a small blue box that had a chocolate brownie in. "It's just for later, you know, when you need strength. Some carbs to keep up your energy."
"Thank you," she said smiling as she took it, "but I can't wait."
"No!" Carlos said as the blonde bit into the brownie and swallowed the bite she had.
"Mm! This is really good," she said smiling, slightly amused at the look on Carlos' face.
"Do you feel okay?" he asked as Briar smiled.
"You bet," she said smiling.
"Would you say that you're still in. . . . that, that you have very strong feelings for me?" Carlos asked, looking nervous as the blonde pursed her lips.
"I'm not sure," she said, hiding her smirk, "I mean, let's give the anti-love potion a few minutes to take effect."
"Yeah, okay," Carlos said, then it hit him what she said. "What?" he asked horrified, "what? You knew?"
"That you spelled me?" she asked as she looked at him. "Yeah. Yeah, I knew, and Ben knew about Mal." Carlos paled as Briar looked at him.
"I'm, I can explain myself," he said as Briar chuckled.
"You don't need to," she said, "I can do it for you. Your four are planning on stealing Fairy Godmother's wand, that's why you were at the museum that night. You failed, so you had to stay in school and once you found out that Ben and I get to be right near that wand with our respected partners, you and Mal decided to use a love potion to get closer to the wand by using us." She looked at Carlos who looked shocked. "Am I wrong?" Carlos hesitated as Briar nodded. "I didn't think so."
"How long have you known?" he asked as Briar looked at him.
"Since our first date," she said casually, "your spell washed away in the Enchanted Lake." Carlos' face dropped.
"So then what?" she asked, "you've just been faking it since then?" Briar looked at Carlos and smiled lightly.
"I haven't been faking anything," she said softly as the carriage came to a stop before she got out. The blonde got out, smiled to all the cameras as Carlos joined her side and looked at her.
"Briar," he began as she looked at him.
"Don't," she said with a small smile, "I just hope I've done all I can to convince you why you should be good." She held onto his hand and smiled before the two walked up the stairs to where Ben, Mal, Belle and Beast were.
"Oh Briar, you look beautiful," Belle said, hugging the blonde.
"Thank you," she said smiling as she hugged Beast after. She turned to Ben and grinned. "You ready?" she asked as he nodded.
"I think so," he said as she grinned.
"You got this," she said as he nodded, "you have nothing to worry about." Ben grinned and the two best friends hugged tightly. "See you in there," she said, patting him on the shoulders before walking off with Mal and Carlos.
The trio stood together by the front of the crowd, just feet away from Fairy Godmother and the wand as the blonde was in between the two VK's.
"I hope you don't do it," the blonde said, just loud enough for Mal to hear.
"W-What?" she asked, looking confused.
"She knows about the wand," Carlos said, just as quietly as Mal looked at her.
"I figured it out," Briar said, staring ahead. She turned to Mal and looked at the purple haired girl. "You're not your mother, you make your own choices."
Before Mal could even respond, Ben had reached the front and was stood in front of Fairy Godmother.
"Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" Fairy Godmother asked, the wand in her hand as Ben knelt before her.
"I do solemnly swear," he said as Briar watched him with a proud look.
"Then it is my honour and my joy to bless our new king," she said, tapping him once on each shoulder before putting the crown on his head. The entire crowd burst into applause as Ben stood and faced the crowd.
"As my first proclamation as King," Ben said and the room went silent, "I would like to invite Princess Briar-Rose up here." Briar looked at him confused as Ben looked at her.
"Go," Carlos whispered in her ear as she picked the bottom of her dress up. Briar looked at Carlos before walked up next to Ben.
"What are you doing?" Briar whispered to Ben.
"Briar," he said as the blonde looked at him, "you have been my voice of reason since we were kids and you have helped me through every single problem I've ever had. As King, I would like to personally ask you if you would do my the honour of becoming my second in command?" Briar looked at him shocked as he grinned.
"Yes!" she said, laughing in shock as she grinned.
"Fairy Godmother?" Ben asked as Briar looked at the older woman and smiled.
"Princess Briar-Rose," Fairy Godmother said as the blonde looked at her. "Do you solemnly swear to advise and support King Ben in ruling the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as he shall reign?"
"I do solemnly swear," she said as Carlos watched the blonde with a proud look.
"Then it is my honour and my joy to bless our new Royal Advisor to the King," she said, tapping the blonde once on each shoulder before getting out a golden ring with the initials RA on and putting it on the blonde's pinky finger.
The entire crowd burst into applause as Briar stood and smiled. The blonde had a wide grin on her face as she picked the bottom of her dress up, hurried towards Carlos and hugged him tightly. The white haired boy looked shocked, but smiled as he wrapped his arms around the shorter girl and hugged her tightly.
"Briar," Ben whisper-shouted as the blonde let go of Carlos, "you need to come back up."
"Oh, sorry!" she said as everyone laughed as she smiled at Carlos before hurrying back to Ben. "Sorry," she said to Ben. "Sorry," to Fairy Godmother. "Sorry," to Belle and Beast who were smiling at the girl fondly.
Before anyone could even react, a pair of hands grabbed the wand, and a jet of bright golden sparks flew out of it, and shot into the air, breaking the barrier to the Isle of the Lost.
