Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn

I had been working in the nursery now for coming up 4 years and with each passing moment there were more and more complaints being made about Summer and the file in Marjorie's filing cabinet was growing.  Head office had previously pulled Summer from the rooms to be the deputy manager and assist Marjorie in the office.

One particular day Marjorie had asked summer to print a letter out about overdue fees and take it to the preschool room for the staff to hand out to the parents, as summer arrived in the preschool, she told the child it was for to tell his mummy to pay her bill, when summer got back to the office there was a call from one of the rooms, a child needed assistance after a toileting accident "ok ill send summer down now with some nursery spares now" Marjorie said she sent summer to the bathroom with spare pants when she arrived in the bathroom "Myra here's your pants, tell your mummy and daddy they need to pack you some more pants so you don't use ours ok, thank you" Myra asked Summer for a hug, Summer refused and said "not until you pack some more pants" and turned and left to head back to the office.  Marjorie was on the phone when she walked back in "done" summer said Marjorie held her finger up at summer "say that again" listening intently "she said what? No ill speak to her now" Marjorie was now getting frustrated "what the hell is wrong with you?" Marjorie asked raising her voice slightly "what?" summer asked looking confused "Kyles mum has just gone to collect him, and the poor little lads burst into tears saying that she owes us money" Marjorie was trying to keep her cool "I mean that is accurate" was all summer could respond, Marjorie huffed "accurate or not you do not pass messages onto the parents, particularly when it concerns billing issues through their 4 year old child" Marjorie was now seething at Summer "I thought it was affective cause she knows the message now, but ok I won't do that again " summer replied still not understanding what she had done wrong "oh we're not done" Marjorie's temper was beginning to escalate more "a staff member in the bathroom heard you telling Myra that she wasn't even allowed a cuddle until her parents have packed her some more spare pants" summer looked at Marjorie and said "that was only a joke" Marjorie took a breath "did you refuse the cuddle?" summer was now looking at the ground "well she was wet" she didn't look back up at Marjorie for a few seconds Marjorie was shaking her head "Summer who hurt you" she then informed summer that she would be joining the new apprentices on a their induction training summer got irate "I'm a deputy manager not an apprentice" being serious Marjorie replied "too bloody right you're not cause our amazing apprentices would never ever act like that"

The next day Marjorie asked summer to place advertisements for an assist for chef, a new nursery practitioner and a room leader summer had a plan and messaged members of her family about the vacancies.  The positions were filled, it was a few days later that problems developed, Marjorie was walking down the corridor when she received a phone call from one of the rooms informing her that the lunches hadn't arrived yet "ill head straight to the kitchen and check what's going on". Marjorie headed to the kitchen "chef the foods late any reason why? Hmm" a young woman turned around with her phone in her hand "oh hi we haven't met yet" looking confused Marjorie spoke "you're our new assistant chef?" the young woman looked back and replied, "yeah and if you're wondering where the food is, sorry I totally got a bit distracted on my phone" Marjorie was still confused "you seem familiar have we met?" "Oh well I am summers aunt" the woman replied "oh I didn't realize summer had hired anyone for the role yet" the phone rings "oh hang on, hello what do you mean there's pandemonium in the toddler room, right I'm on my way" Marjorie makes her way to the toddler room "right what's going on in here" another young woman turns to speak to Marjorie "oh hi yeah so the children have spilt paint all over the floor, so I just need you to get someone to come and clean this up" Marjorie couldn't believe what she just heard "who are you?" "oh I'm thee new nursery practitioner, I'm summers cousin" the woman said while nodding her head Marjorie was in complete shock "oh my god right ok, right you need to clean all the" the phone rang again cutting Marjorie off "hello" the woman on the other end of the phone was frantic it was charlotte "Marjorie our new room leader is absolute awful she's bulling all the staff making us feel terrible could you come in here please?" charlotte asked Marjorie couldn't believe her ears "right I'm on my way" as she walked away "absolutely no guessing who this is" Marjorie spoke to the room leader as she walked into the baby room "hello I'm guessing you're our new room leader while Kelly is on maternity leave?" "Yeah, babe I'm so happy for the job because honestly someone had to whip these staff into shape, they are so lazy" the woman said causing charlotte to spin around in frustration Marjorie took a deep breath "and how may I ask are you related to summer?" the other woman was happy at the question "oh my god how did you know that we're related? I'm her sister" Marjorie was starting to get really frustrated now "shock' right well um I'm having a bit of a HR crisis today, which I can now see is my own fault so erm I've just gotta put out a few fires it was lovely to meet you and I'll be back in a minute" charlotte darted over to Marjorie "wait where are you going?" Marjorie took a breath "I need to go to the office and phone head office to see if it is even legal to fire 3 people from the same family in one day, although by the end of the day that could be 4" let's just say that day was eventful.  There were multiple days where Marjorie came close to firing Summer that day came when Summer broke GDPR guidelines for allowing a photo of a child to stay on social media all night even after the parent called and asked for the picture to be removed and on a fire drill, she left a child alone in the corridor if charlotte wasn't following summer wouldn't have even known. After those serious incidents Marjorie had no choice but to fire her for gross misconduct.

Marjorie and the staff felt their all their Christmas's had come early, 

After a few weeks had passed Marjorie called head office to suggest charlotte taking the roll permanent when she was informed from head office that the owner had already filled the position, and they would be starting today it was the owner's daughter autumn.

Autumn has arrived!!
