It had been a few weeks since Mia had left, things had calmed down Reece and Marjorie were happier than ever and even flirtier over the phone to the point autumn had threatened to snip more than the phone line. I on the other hand was starting to struggle to control my emotions. I had stopped wearing my colourful clothes and opted for dark colors. I was starting to see why Mia had tried to get Jodie fired as each day passed, I saw how much more each of us were having to do just to pick up the slack Jodie was leaving behind. The day arrived of my eight year anniversary Marjorie had called me into the office as I arrived at work, I made my way to the office paining my fake smile on as I got to the door

"Hey, Marjorie, I heard you wanted to see me, hey Reece"

Reece acknowledged me "Charlotte"

"Yes, I did my love guess what today is"

"My eight-year anniversary" I was proud of this accomplishment

"Your eight-year anniversary, oh my god I can not believe you have worked with me for eight years"

"I know and I can't believe how fast that's gone either"

Reece spoke up now shocked "eight years you must have some stories"

"Oh well" before I got the chance to carry on Marjorie interrupted me

"Oh Reece you should see some of the things charlottes had to endure over these eight years, she been shouted at, screamed at, sworn at, had stuff thrown at her, she's been vomited on, crapped on, peed on basically anything that comes out of a body it's gone on her, I think she's had someone swing for her once, she's had every pervy dad hit on her" Marjorie stopped reeling items off a list

"I see" Reece looked uncomfortable at all the things that had happened to me over my time working here,

Marjorie took this time to carry on

"She's been followed she's been stalked, that guy turned up at your house she's been harassed literally online as well"

Reece had become concerned now

"Seriously"

"Oh, it's all fun memories"

"Yeah, it sounds like a cause for celebration"

I did not know what to say so shrugged it off we were interrupted by the doorbell

"I'll get it," said Reece

Marjorie thanked him before she carried on speaking to me

"So, I was thinking for lunch to celebrate your eight years should me and you just go to the pub together"

"Oh, that would be lovely thank you Marjorie"

Reece came back into the office now with a bouquet of flowers handing them to me "flowers for Charlotte" I took them from him in shock thinking Marjorie had ordered them for me, "Marjorie, you got me flowers for my anniversary"

"Oh, darling those aren't from me they must be from your husband"

There was that word 'husband' it hurt that she did not know but I still could not bring myself to tell anyone

"They, they, they won't be from him he won't know it's my eight-year anniversary"

"Darling you two have been together forever of course he'd remember"

"Even if he did, we haven't done flowers in a long time"

"Yeah, but my darling it's not just any day is it it's your eight-year anniversary here, of course that's why he's done it"
