Dance with me. Ji-ah's heart pounded at his words. She glanced at his outstretched hand for a moment, then placed her hand in his.
Jungwon's smile widened as he led her towards the dance floor. As they passed by the woman, Ji-ah noticed the look of disbelief on her face.
They stepped onto the dance floor, where the music played, as other princes joined in with their partners. Ji-ah followed Jungwon's lead as he guided her effortlessly through the waltz. They twirled and spun in unison, and Ji-ah couldn't help but feel a thrill with each graceful turn.
Jungwon's gaze remained fixed on her the entire time. Ji-ah always felt nervous under his gaze, but this time she allowed herself to meet his eyes.
She admired both his beauty and the ease with which he moved. The nervousness she had felt before the dance was long forgotten as she lost herself in the moment.
Ji-ah realized, as she stood there looking at him, that she didn't quite know when it had started, but the feelings she had were unmistakable. God, maybe she had really fallen for him.
Jungwon's presence seemed to fill the space around them, making everything else fade into the background. She caught his gaze again, finding an unmistakable emotion she hadn't noticed before. There was a sincerity in his eyes that made her heart flutter.
Ji-ah thought she might be imagining it, but she could have sworn she felt Jungwon's hand tightening around her waist, pulling her even closer.
As the performance was ending, the music slowly faded, but Ji-ah felt as if the dance was still playing in her heart.
They took their positions and bowed as the crowd erupted into applause. The sound echoed around the vast ballroom, filling the space with a vibrant energy.
Jungwon's eyes remained locked on Ji-ah, a soft, satisfied smile on his lips. "Thank you for dancing with me," he said, his voice warm and sincere.
Ji-ah's cheeks were flushed, not just from the dance but from the emotions that had stirred inside her. "Thank you for asking," she replied.
The applause began to fade, and the crowd's attention shifted back to the evening's festivities. Jungwon's hand lingered on Ji-ah's waist for a moment longer before he gently stepped back.
There was a hint of sadness in his eyes, though it was subtle and hard to pinpoint. He offered Ji-ah one final warm smile before turning and blending back into the crowd.
Ji-ah watched him go, a mix of emotions swirling inside her. She took a deep breath and looked around the ballroom, the grandeur of the room now feeling both familiar and foreign.
She briefly spotted the other princes, already surrounded by girls who were marvelling at them.
Remembering her earlier goal, Ji-ah began to search the room for Seo-yeon. She had been hoping to catch her before the dance, but the whirlwind of the evening had kept her distracted.
