Lucy's POV

After Mr. Lohsan shot Tim and saw Tim falling to the ground, he dropped the gun in shock.
I quickly took the gun, handcuffed Mr. Lohsan to the banisters of the house and then ran back to Tim.

I radioed for backup and an ambulance for Tim.
He had a bullet wound in his stomach below the bulletproof vest.
I tried to stop the bleeding but it didn't seem to work.
There was blood everywhere.
Tim was unconscious.
I didn't even realize I was crying.

I checked Tim's breathing and couldn't detect any breathing. I immediately started resuscitating him with chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

"Lucy??" I heard John and Celina call my name. They joined us in the garden with Bailey and another paramedic.
The paramedics came straight to me and Tim.
They took over the resuscitation and cared for Tim while Celina and John pulled me to the side.
Celina immediately took me in her arms and John used a cloth to clean my hands, which were full of Tim's blood.

Grey, Aaron, Angela and Neyla all came into the garden now.
Grey and Angela immediately ran to Tim and spoke briefly to Bailey.
Neyla and Aaron came to me, Celina and John.
"Lucy, how did this happen?" Neyla asked me.
I told her the whole situation and that we actually had everything under control when he pulled out a second gun that we hadn't seen before because we had to keep a safe distance due to the gun he had pointed at us when we entered the garden.

When I told them everything, Angela and Grey joined us.
"Tim has a heartbeat again but it looks bad. They had to intubate him to make sure he was breathing and Bailey is taking him to hospital now and he'll probably need immediate surgery to survive. She suspects he has severe internal bleeding and injuries. A police convoy will accompany the ambulance and clear all roads." Angela told us all.
"I have to go with him to the hospital." I said immediately.

Bailey pushed Tim on the stretcher past us to the ambulance.
"Lucy, you can't ride with Tim in the ambulance now. Bailey needs room to work. You did everything you could to keep Tim alive until the paramedics got here. Now it's up to Bailey and the doctors to continue saving his life. I'm driving you to the hospital now so they can check you out." Grey said, leading me to his car.
We drove behind the ambulance to the hospital.
He parked and we went in.

We saw Tim being wheeled into the trauma room and heard Bailey giving a handover to the doctors.
"Police officer, male, 37 years old. Gunshot wound from about 2 meters away in the left abdomen. He was resuscitated on scene and then again in the ambulance. Breathing sounds on the left are barely audible. The abdomen is rock hard, probably internal bleeding. There is no exit wound from the bullet."

I was taken into a treatment room by a nurse and got checked up.
Grey was waiting outside the door.

When I was ready I came out and went with Sergeant Grey into the waiting room to see John, Celina, Angela, Neyla,Aaron and Tamara.

Celina had probably called Tamara.
Tamara took me in her arms. "Are you okay?"
"Yes, everything's fine with me. Tim just threw himself in front of me and saved my life. That bullet was meant for me and not for him. He shouldn't be lying there in the operation room fighting for his life." I said and started crying again.
We all sat down and the girls tried to comfort me.

After a few hours, a doctor came by and had a quick chat with Grey.
Sgt. Grey joined us all afterwards. "Tim is still in surgery, there were a few complications as the injuries were bigger than expected but they won't tell me more as we are not direct relatives of Tim. He will probably have to stay in intensive care for a few days after the operation, during which time only relatives are allowed to see him. We will be informed as soon as he is in the normal ward and we are allowed to see him. I know it's not what we all wanted to hear but he's alive and that's the most important thing for now. Tim is tough and will get through this. It's getting late too, go home and get some sleep."
Everyone nodded and left slowly.
I didn't want to go but Tamara and Celina persuaded me to come home with them to have a shower and something to eat.

I went home to shower but I couldn't eat anything. I couldn't get anything down. All I could think about was Tim and how he just threw himself in front of me.
I walked up and down my room.
I have to see him. I have to see that he was really alive.

His sister Genny is on vacation and hasn't been able to organize a return flight for the next two days.
Tim can't be alone until then.
He needed someone to keep him company.

I took my jacket and went to the front door. Celina and Tamara immediately looked at me.
"Where are you going?" Celina asked me.
"I'm going to visit Tim."
"Lucy, we know you want to see him, but no one except his family is allowed to see him and maybe it wouldn't be good if you saw him hanging from all these monitors and cables."
"Celina, I'm carrying his baby. The baby and I are part of his family. I appreciate your concern for me but I need to see him."
"What are you going to tell the doctors and nurses to let you see him?" Tamara asked me.
"I'm a trained undercover officer so I'm good at lying. I'll just tell them I'm his wife. They won't want to see a wedding certificate."
"What if they do want to see one?"
"Then I'll think of something else Tamara. But I'm not leaving this hospital again without seeing him."
Celina and Tamara just nodded and accepted it, realizing they couldn't dissuade me.

I drove to the hospital and parked. Then I made my way to the intensive care unit.
