We entered a bar apparently called the Mystic Grill, funny name if you asked me. It was overfilled with people, some drinking by the bar, some eating on the tables and some playing pool. It smelled delicious, though. The music on the other hand was not that great.
Some people stopped doing whatever they were doing and stared at us instead, watching us with prying eyes. Most of them being high school students who knew Stefan and I were new.
I noticed a tall blond guy walking up to us. He stopped right in front of my brother and put out his hand for him to shake. He was well built, and had warm blue eyes. At first glance, he seemed like a nice guy, but the way he was silently scrutinising my brother didn't give me much of a good vibe.
"Hey, I'm Matt. Nice to meet you."
Stefan quickly shook his hand. "Hi. Stefan."
The blond guy--Matt--then turned to look at me and offered me a somewhat nice smile, compared to the slight glare he had given Stefan. He extended his hand to me as well and I shook it immediately with a smile of my own.
"Francesca." I told him my name, and he nodded with a smile in return. He turned to look at Elena who stood by our side, and I finally understood why he glared at Stefan. He was jealous because Elena came with Stefan. There was already drama happening, and all because Stefan couldn't help himself from liking the girl.
"Hey." Elena smiled awkwardly at him. The boy seemed to stare deep into her eyes and only mutter a small 'hey' in return before walking away.
"Franny!"
My eyes widened and I looked around at the voice, recognising it to be the blonde girl's from this morning. I noticed her by the pool next to a brunet guy who stared at us in curiosity, and the girl was happily waving, approaching us.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see Stefan smirking at me. "Franny, huh?" He muttered in a low voice. I pushed him away and glared.
"Not a word."
--
I found myself to be sitting around a table with Stefan, Elena, Caroline and another girl with straight brown hair and brown eyes--the one who had been staring at us this morning when we first came to school. I learned her name was Bonnie, and so far she was the nicest one out of the three, from what I could see.
"So you two were born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline asked us, leaning her head on top of her hands.
"Mhm, and we moved when we were still young." Stefan pointed at both of us.
"Parents?" Bonnie asked us kindly.
"Our parents passed away," I answered before Stefan could say anything. If he told me to come with, then he should let me talk as well. He was the only one talking since the night started and it frustrates me.
After I answered, Stefan turned to look at Elena, silently staring at her. I noticed Bonnie and Caroline staring weirdly at him and I nudged him with my knee.
Elena frowned at the information that we were basically orphan. "I'm sorry."
I could see she was telling that only to Stefan, since she was only staring at him. I didn't mind, I just found it funny. She didn't even try to make it less obvious.
"Any siblings?" She asked. Damon Salvatore, our older brother. I was about to answer but Stefan cut me to it.
"None that we talk to. We live with our uncle."
So he doesn't want to tell Elena we have an older brother. Typical Stefan.
"So, Stefan, Francesca, if you're new then you don't about the party tomorrow," Caroline informed us with an excited smile.
"It's a back-to-school thing at the falls," Bonnie explained.
A party. How great. I love parties. Of course, I have mostly been at balls than parties, but I guess I needed to socialize more if I were to be new in this town.
"Count me in" I told them, and all three girls smiled at my answer.
Stefan turned to Elena and leaned in. "Are you going?"
"Of course she is," Bonnie answered playfully for her friend, and I chuckled at Elena's flustered reaction. She was already liking my brother.
