That night got pretty boring pretty fast. I tried bending into groups, listening into their conversations but nothing interested me enough. I walked around, looking at the many faces I would probably see everyday for the rest of my high school years--as funny as it sounded to me.
At first, I thought going to school was the worst idea my brother had, but now as I thought more about it, it can actually bring us some normalcy for once. Minus the part that there's a girl who looks exactly as my late friend. That, I didn't understand yet, but I knew that we would get answers pretty quick.
As I walked around, I spotted Bonnie--Elena's and Caroline's friend. She was by the bonfire all alone, staring at the wood burning. She seemed like she was thinking deeply about something, and the frown that she had on her face made me curious about what. So I decided to approach her.
"Hey, Bonnie!"
The girl looked up in a flash and as soon as she noticed me walking her way, she immediately put a smile on her face. "Hi."
"Are you okay?" I asked her. "You don't seem to be enjoying this party very much."
Bonnie opened her mouth to answer but nothing came out. She gave me a tight smile and shrugged, trying to laugh her worries off. "I just...I don't know. There are weird stuff happening, I can't explain it."
I frowned. "You wanna talk about it?"
I don't know what had gotten into me. Usually I don't truly care about people's worries and problems, but Bonnie seemed like a nice girl and it made me want to know.
Bonnie thought about it, and I could see she wanted to tell me everything that was on her mind, but instead she shook her head. "I don't wanna bother you."
I gave her a smile. "You won't. Trust me."
Bonnie then sighed and looked at the drink in her hand, as if analyzing it and finding it to be the most interesting thing at the moment. "My family comes from a line of witches--Salem witches. I found that to be surreal, you know? I mean, witches?" She laughed. "But there are stuff happening, like I predict stuff that are going to happen, or I know where things are placed, and now...I see things when I touch people."
"What things?" I asked her. Bonnie looked at me and tilted her head as if trying to see if I was making fun of her or not. I wasn't. I knew witches existed. She wasn't going crazy. Now as I thought more about it, her last name being Bennett, of course she'd be a witch. I knew a Bennett witch once.
"Earlier when I was with Elena, I touched her hand and I saw a crow, and a tall, creepy man."
"Oh." I nodded. "What did the man look like?"
"He had dark hair, blue eyes and he looked so creepy," Bonnie tried explaining as much as she could. My eyes widened. Oh no.
I cleared my throat. "Well, don't worry too much about it. if you're a witch like you say, then it's completely normal to see weird things."
"Wait, you believe me?" Bonnie asked.
"Of course, why wouldn't I? Witches exist, everybody knows!"
Bonnie frowned and shook her head. "No, they don't."
"Well," I tried thinking of something to say, "I personally think they exist."
Bonnie looked at me and smiled. I think she had expected for me to shrug whatever she had told me off and tell her that she was going completely crazy. If only she knew. I looked around, trying to find Stefan, but I couldn't see him. It had gotten quite late, and I really wanted to go home.
And I really needed to tell Stefan about Bonnie's vision.
"It was nice talking with you, Bonnie." I smiled at her. "But I think I'm gonna find my brother and head home."
Bonnie nodded. "Yeah, of course. It was nice talking to you."
I was about to walk away, but her hand stopped me short. I turned around and I saw her smile fall off her face before she took her hand off me. I knew what had happened. She touched me and I knew she had seen something. I was just scared of what she had seen. Please don't tell me you saw anything weird.
"Bonnie? What is it?"
She stared at me with her mouth wide open and shook her head. "I don't know. That was weird. I just had another vision."
I frowned. "What did you see?"
Bonnie gulped and it seemed like she was trying to recollect her thoughts before telling me. "I saw a tall man but it wasn't the same one as before."
"What do you mean? What did this man look like?"
Bonnie shrugged. "I couldn't really tell. His face was all blurry."
My heart began to race and I looked around for Stefan. "I really need to go."
I left her standing there, staring at me as I walked away. I didn't really know what she had seen when she touched me, but I had the feeling that I should've known. There was something missing, something that wasn't right. I grabbed my necklace--the one with the ring on it--as a reflex. I looked around frantically for my brother and I spotted him in the distance.
"Stefan!"
He turned around and saw me walking quickly towards him. His brows furrowed at my panicked demeanor and he grabbed my shoulders. "What is it?"
"You know Bonnie? Elena's friend?"
He nodded.
"I talked to her and she told me how she's a witch and all that but that's not important. She told me she had a vision when she touched Elena."
Stefan grew worried.
"What vision?"
"She saw Damon. Or at least I think it was him based on what she described," I said in a breath.
"Damon?" Stefan asked. "Why would she see Damon?"
I shrugged. "How should I know? She seemed creeped out by him too."
Stefan scoffed, unamused. "Of course she'd be creeped out. It's Damon."
"Somebody help!" A voice screamed from the woods. Both Stefan and I turned towards the sound and noticed Elena and a younger boy who I'd never seen before carrying the body of a young girl out of the woods. The girl seemed unconscious, and from where I was standing, I couldn't see much, but I noticed it was the same girl who had been looking at Tyler and I while he was talking to me. It was his girlfriend.
Stefan and I approached cautiously as we watched Elena place the unconscious body on the floor. Everybody began walking towards the scene and soon the girl was surrounded by teenagers.
"Something bit her. She's loosing a lot of blood!" Elena exclaimed in worry.
Bit her? I looked closely and could see a bite mark on the girl's neck. Indeed, there was a lot of blood coming out of her neck and I took a step back. I looked worryingly towards Stefan, but he seemed lost in thought. I nudged him.
"Hey, what do you think happened?" I asked.
I had an idea in my head about what happened, but I didn't really want to believe it. Stefan sent me a quick glance before gesturing with his head for me to follow him out of the bonfire. I looked back at the unconscious girl, and made direct eye contact with Matt, the guy we met yesterday at the grill. As soon as he spotted us leaving, he tilted his head at us with a frown.
I sent him a reassuring glance before turning back around and following Stefan home.
