The next day dawned with a soft, golden light filtering through the clinic's windows. The air was filled with a sense of renewed hope and quiet determination as the residents of the Butterfly Estate began their routines. In her room, the half breed girl stirred from her slumber, the exhaustion of the previous days still weighing heavily on her. She hadn't heard Shinobu's gentle knock on her door the previous evening, nor had she been aware of the exciting news that awaited her.
Shinobu entered the room quietly, a serene smile on her face. She approached the girl's bedside, gently shaking her shoulder. "Good morning," Shinobu said softly, watching as the girl's eyes fluttered open.
The girl blinked a few times, her mind slowly waking up. "Shinobu-san?" she mumbled, still groggy from sleep. "What's going on?"
Shinobu's smile widened. "I have some wonderful news for you. Rengoku-san has finally woken up."
The girl's eyes snapped open fully, and she sat up quickly, the sleepiness vanishing in an instant. "He's awake? Really?" she asked, a mixture of relief and joy in her voice.
Shinobu nodded. "Yes, he woke up yesterday. He's still weak and recovering, but he's conscious and aware. I thought you'd want to know right away."
Without a moment's hesitation, the girl swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up, a determined look on her face. "I need to see him," she said, already moving towards the door.
Shinobu followed her, a knowing look in her eyes. "I had a feeling you'd say that. Come, I'll take you to his room."
As they walked through the corridors of the clinic, the girl couldn't help but feel a surge of emotions. Relief, joy, and a profound gratitude filled her heart. She had spent so many days and nights worrying, hoping, and praying for Rengoku's recovery. Knowing he was finally awake was a weight lifted off her shoulders.
When they reached Rengoku's room, Shinobu knocked gently before opening the door. "Rengoku-san, you have a visitor," she announced, stepping aside to let the girl enter.
Rengoku looked up from his bed, a tired but genuine smile spreading across his face as he saw her. "Ah, there you are," he said warmly. "I've been waiting to see you."
The girl felt tears welling up in her eyes as she rushed to his bedside, her hands trembling slightly. "Rengoku-san, I'm so glad you're awake," she said, her voice thick with emotion.
