Daki and Gyutaro had barely escaped the intense battle with Tengen Uzui, Tanjirou Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira. The memory of the clash still lingered in Daki's mind, the adrenaline slowly wearing off as they retreated to safety. She felt a whirl of mixed emotions, a storm brewing within her as she processed everything that had happened.
She knew that Y/N, the half-breed girl, had been present during the chaos. Y/N had been battling Douma, Upper Moon Two. The very thought of it sent a shiver down Daki’s spine. Douma was powerful, cunning, and merciless. The idea of Y/N facing him alone stirred something unexpected within Daki—worry.
Why did she care so much? Y/N was different, yes, but she was still an enemy, a threat to the stability and security that Daki and Gyutaro had painstakingly built. Yet, Y/N was also the only one who had shown her genuine kindness, who had seen her as more than a mere tool or weapon.
As Daki and Gyutaro found a momentary refuge, her mind kept drifting back to Y/N. She felt a pang of guilt, mingled with a strange longing. Part of her wished she could have done something to help, to protect Y/N from the inevitable danger she faced. But another part of her was relieved that she had escaped the battle with her brother by her side.
"Daki, what's wrong?" Gyutaro’s voice pulled her from her thoughts. He was looking at her with concern, his own exhaustion evident.
"Nothing," she lied, shaking her head. "Just thinking about what happened."
Gyutaro frowned but didn’t press further. He had his own burdens to bear, and Daki knew that their survival was always their top priority.
But as they sat in the dim light of their hideout, Daki couldn’t shake the image of Y/N standing defiantly against Douma. She admired Y/N’s bravery, even if it was foolhardy. And she couldn’t help but wonder what might have been different if they were not on opposite sides of this relentless war.
For now, Daki resolved to focus on the present, to recover and prepare for whatever came next. But deep down, she couldn’t help but hope that Y/N had somehow survived. Because in the midst of all the bloodshed and brutality, Y/N had sparked a glimmer of something Daki thought she had long lost—the belief that there could be more to her existence than just being a demon, a weapon, a monster.
