It felt like summer was never ending. Hermione missed life at Hogwarts more than anything. She missed her friends Luna Lovegood and Ginny Weasley. Well. Ginny hadn't started at Hogwarts yet but she chatted with her once and they had a lot in common. But most of all she missed her best friends Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. To Hermione Harry wasn't 'The Chosen One' or 'The Boy Who Lived' to her he was just Harry. Which was what he needed. But he didn't think of her as anything more than a close friend. She didn't either. Besides, he was interested in Luna although he seemed rather flustered when he saw Ginny again. She would've asked but he hadn;t answered her letters. All summer. It was the end of July. Soon she'd turn twelve. In October. She hoped Harry was ok. But one day Hermione came downstairs to her mother saying, "Post came today. I think Luna wr-" "Did Harry write back?" Hermione lunged for nthe stack of letters hurriedly flicking through to find his name. "No..." Hermione's mom said confused. "Why does it matter so much?" Hermione sighed. She was getting worried but her mother wouldn't understand. "No reason." She just opened the letter from her best friend, Luna.

"Dear Hermione,

I miss you like crazy. Have you heard anything from Harry? It feels like he's ghosting me. Maybe he's lost interest? Anyway, I'd love to come and visit you at your house but unfortunately my dad said it's a little too early for me to travel to the muggle world alone. Sad face. But I Can't wait to shop in Diagon Alley with you! I miss you more than  I can say.

Love always, Luna."

Hermione smiled at the letter. she missed her late night talks with Luna. She knew it wouldn't happen over the summer which made her sadden a little but she was looking forward to going back to Hogwarts with her. She picked up the next letter and spit out her juice when she saw who it was from. "What is it?" her mom asked. Hermione got up and ran to the bathroom and shut the door. "Hermione?" her mother called after her. Ron Weasley. She hadn't talked to him since April. She wasn't expecting anything from him. Hermione just didn't want her parents to see her reaction for some reason. She slowly opened it heart beating twenty times fast.

"Dear Hermione,

I've missed you. I've tried to reach out to Harry but he never answered. Have you had any luck? But I promised you I'd write at least once this summer so here I am. How have you been? I've been good. Ginny hasn't stopped talking about Hogwarts, you, and Harry. Mostly Harry. It's really annoying. But she's really nervous to start. I think she'll do great. Anyways, my mum wanted me to ask if you'd like to visit the Burrow sometime this summer? You're always welcome. I'm sure Ginny would love to have another girl to talk to and I'd of course be glad to see you again.

Yours Truly, Ron."

Hermione squealed. "You ok in there honey?" her mom knocked on the door. Hermione opened it grinning. Her mother looked bewildered then said, "Oh! Did you-start?" Hermione realized what her mom was talking about and blurted, "What?! No!" "Well then come back to the table then." "Mum can I ask a question?

(P.S. Luna's personality is a bit different in this story just FYI. also Harry had a crush on her if that wasn't clear)
