The soft rays of the morning sun filter through the curtains, casting a gentle glow on the room where Varahi lies awake, her thoughts as turbulent as the stormy sea. Avyaan, in a deep slumber , lies right beside her. She spares one last glance at his visage before waking up from the bed. The disturbance in the surroundings causes Avyaan to wake up. Slowly opening his eyes , he finds his wife already gone.

The morning feels so different for no apparent reason and it was not pleasant at all. Something that stung Avyaan.

Avyaan got out of the bed and inched towards the bathroom. He was determined. Determined to make things right between him and Varahi. The distance was throttling him and he couldn't tolerate it. He could see Varahi slowly drifting away , inch by inch , every second.

Ready for the day , Avyaan headed downstairs hoping to find Varahi preparing breakfast. As soon as he reached the dining area , he found everyone already settled for breakfast. He greeted everyone with a soft and quick 'good morning' before settling down himself. His eyes are not leaving the kitchen , waiting to catch the glimpse of his wife. Varahi steps out of the kitchen with a small smile on her face but her weary eyes made her face look fuller than usual. Avyaan knew the reason behind and he hated himself for it. The face which must always have a smile was dull and sad because of his assholery.

As Varahi reaches the dining table , she serves breakfast to everyone with a small smile but as soon as her eyes meet Avyaan,  the corner of her lips dips down. She slowly served food to him and quickly got away.

"Varahi-" the soft whisper of her name fell out of Avyaan's lips.

She wasn't even ready to listen to him. With an unsettling havoc inside him , Avyaan started to eat his breakfast. His mind is thinking of different ways to talk to her. He couldn't talk to her like this- infront of everyone. She was always so busy taking care of everyone.

Maybe a dinner date?

Avyaan's inner voice answered the question quickly. A date night wasn't a bad idea at all. They could get some alone time to talk out their issues. He desperately wanted to talk to her , let her know how terribly sorry he was.

Soon , everybody was done with breakfast. Only Avyaan remained seated at the dining table , waiting for his wife to come out of the kitchen. Was she avoiding him? She didn't even have breakfast yet. Avyaan couldn't take it anymore as he stood up and inched towards the kitchen. It was understandable that she didn't want to talk to him but skipping her breakfast because he was present at the table was totally insane. Avyaan's heart was heavy with something unfamiliar but he was quite familiar with the anger that rushed to his chest when he figured out that his wife was going to skip her breakfast.

Reaching the kitchen Avyaan found Varahi leaning against the counter top. Her eyes empty gazing at the floor , so lost she didn't even notice him coming in.

"Varahi" Avyaan called out her name. Hoping her eyes would meet his. But all he got was disappointment. She refused his gaze. The knot that he felt in his chest when Varahi refused was so tight it pained.
