Chapter 23

Just before we went home for the break, I spoke to Emmi saying that I was going to try to talk to Eron. She was happy and suggested I ask him to go for a walk in the main park in the city. It was near many of the main government buildings including where his mum works. I said that was a good idea.

Just before we left the train station after getting home, I asked Eron about going for a walk together.

"Ok, sounds good. When?"

"I don't know. Maybe in a few days, you could have lunch with your mum and then we could go for a walk."

"Ok, sounds good. I'll work out a good day for Mum and let you know."

"Ok, sounds good."

We said goodbye and I got in the car next to Mum.

"Are you and Eron finally going out?"

"Mum! We're just going for a walk and talk."

"Ok. Predate event then."

I giggled, "Maybe. I hope that it might become a date."

"Good for you honey. I hope things go well for you two."

I smiled the rest of the way home, with Mum and I chatting about what might happen with Eron and catching up on school stuff.

I walked up to the entrance of the park. It was quite large, covering a large area around the main government buildings. It had many trees and nice open spaces covered in grass with outdoor seating and many distinct types of animals. I saw Eron and his mum sitting on a seat and walked towards them. His mum saw me, said something to him, then went back to work.

"Hi, Josy."

"Hi, Eron. How was lunch?"

"It was nice. I don't get to talk to Mum like that often."

"That's good. You two looked comfortable."

"Yes, we were. I'm glad Mum is doing so well."

"Me too."

"Um, I like your outfit. It suits you."

"Thanks. It's nice to be able to dress pretty sometimes. I don't get to that often at the academy."

"You look good there too," he looked at the ground and blushed a little.

"Thanks. You look good today too, and at the academy." It was my turn to blush. We stood there for a moment, kind of awkwardly. "Shell, we go for a walk?"

"Yes! Um, sounds like a nice idea."

We walked together through the garden, pointing out different animals and enjoying the surroundings. Eron picked up a beautiful white flower that had fallen off a tree but was still intact and handed it to me. I smiled at him, then put it in my hair, thanking him. We kept walking down a slight slope heading towards a river.

"I'm glad you asked me to do this," said Eron.

"I'm glad I did too. It's been nice to be able to spend time with you."

"Yes, it has."

"Um," we both said together, giving an awkward laugh afterwards.

"Ladies first."

I smiled at him. "After our chat last break and with the end of the year coming, I've been thinking about my future. I'm trying to work out what that might look like."

"Is that why you wanted to walk with me?"

"That's part of it yes. I want to see if you could be a big part of my future. If you want to see if I could be part of your future."
