Chapter 11

Recap: "I just don't want him to get hurt."

"Why would he?"

"It's not a well known organisation, and I just thought......."

"Thought what?"

"See, the thing is, he's working on a special plan....."

I'm kind of getting annoyed at this point. "What is it? You can trust me, you know that! Just tell me, Andrea, spill the beans, already! I just want to-" I'm cut off by her distressed scream, and I just sit there in shock.

"HE'S IN AN ORGANISATION WHICH WANTS TO START A REBELLION, SELENA! HE WANTS TO TALK TO YOU AND I DON'T WANT TO LOSE THE ONLY PERSON WHO WAS EVER THERE FOR ME! NOR MY DAD, WHO HAS PROTECTED ME SINCE I WAS BORN! I'M SCARED, SELENA. I'M SCARED."

"Andrea....." I say. I don't know how to react to this.

"Come here." I say and pull her into a hug.

"I'm just so worried. There's only one guy who wants to, but he's making the others see his point. " she's not crying, but she looks like she's on the brink of doing so.

"Listen, it will be okay! Nobody is going to get hurt! If your father wants to talk to me, I'll definitely go, but I'll persuade him to hold on for a while! I'll do everything I can, because I don't think The System is wrong in anyway, and I don't see the need to rebel." I say. I'm not lying, and I wonder. People have tried to rebel against The System, but those have just been crazy lunatics who didn't have idea about what they were doing. Now there's an organization?

"Uh...... It's not the entire System they're rebelling against."

"Then who?"

She sighs. "I don't know. From what I can make out, it's a group of individuals, another organization. I wasn't able to find out whom.

"So why does your dad need me? I don't know about any of these small- or big- organizations."

"That's the thing. I was so confused, that I couldn't stop thinking about it. And this is the outcome." She says with a bitter laugh.

"Don't panic, Andrea. I'll do as much as I can about it. " I assure her.

"Thanks."

I try to take my mind off things. I don't exactly want to think about all this rebellion stuff. Instead, I hang out a lot more with M and Jesse. On Sunday, M and I go to Jesse's place. We're talking, and suddenly Jesse's transpod beeps. He looks at the screen and his face lights up when he looks at the screen. As he answers the video call, a hologram appears.

"Kat!" He exclaims, a big goofy smile on his face.

"Jesse! I missed you so much!"

"Me too!" he says, and beckons us. I come forward, and see a girl with long curly brown hair, with gold highlights on the hologram.

"These are my friends, Selena and M," he says, and Kat waves.

"Selena, M, this is Katherine, one of my closest friends back in Geneva."

"It's so nice to talk to you, Jesse! Life is kinda boring here, without your jokes." M and I sit back down, and it makes me feel so warm inside to see Jesse so happy.

"What's up with the rest of the group?" he asks.

"Nothing much. Ariel and Brendon are officially a couple!"
