Adar's shock was palpable, but he maintained his composure, ensuring their guests felt welcome. He showed Prince Melus and Simon to their room, mentioning Evan's presence, but the prince's curt response about not wanting to see his brother left Adar perplexed. Despite this, Adar enjoyed his conversations with Simon, who was as warm and cheerful as ever. As the evening drew to a close, Adar retired to bed, only to find Evan already there, looking confused and hurt.

Adar's expression softened, and he quickly got ready for bed, slipping into his silk pajamas before cuddling up beside Evan. He enveloped Evan in a gentle embrace, offering comfort and reassurance without needing words. As they settled in together, Adar's presence seemed to calm Evan's turmoil, and the tension in his body began to ease.

Evan's voice trembled as he began, "Adar, I need to tell you something. It's been weighing on me, and I can't keep it inside anymore."

Adar's expression turned serious, his eyes narrowing slightly. "What is it, Evan?"

Evan took a deep breath. "It's about Melus... my older brother. I've struggled with feelings for him for a long time. I know it's wrong, and it's torn me apart."

Adar's grip on Evan tightened, but his voice was laced with a mix of shock and disappointment. "Evan, how could you? You knew you were brothers, and yet...?"

Evan's tears fell onto Adar's chest as he whispered, "I know, I know. It's despicable. I'm ashamed. I told Melus how I felt, and it didn't go well. I was so consumed by jealousy that I lashed out at Simon."

Adar's expression was stern, but his voice still held a hint of compassion. "Evan, I don't understand why you'd feel this way, but I want to help you through this. However, I need you to understand that this isn't something I can simply accept or condone. You need to confront the depth of your feelings and work through them."

Evan nodded, knowing he had to face the consequences of his actions. "I know, Adar. I'm willing to do the work. I just need you to stand by me, even if i don't fully understand or agree with my feelings."

Adar's expression softened slightly, his voice filled with a mix of empathy and concern. "I'll stand by you, Evan, but know that I'll also be honest with you. Now, I need to ask... do you still have feelings for Melus?"

Evan looked up, his eyes clear and resolute. "No, Adar. I don't. I've figured out my feelings, and I realize now that they were misplaced and wrong. My heart belongs to you, and I'm committed to moving forward with you."

Adar's face relaxed, a small smile on his lips. "I'm glad to hear that, Evan. I'm willing to work through this with you."

Evan's voice was laced with wonder. "You're taking this better than I expected. I thought you'd be angrier, more hurt."

Adar's expression turned serious, his eyes locked on Evan's. "I am hurt, Evan. But I'm not willing to lose you again. I love you, and I want to work through this together. We'll get through this, as long as we're honest with each other."

Evan's mind raced with doubts and fears as the silence between them grew thicker. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he had made a grave mistake by confessing his past feelings for Melus. The tension in the air was palpable, and Evan's heart sank as he wondered if he had indeed ruined everything.

"Maybe I shouldn't have said anything," Evan thought to himself, his mind replaying the conversation over and over. "Maybe this wasn't the right time. Maybe Adar can't forgive me for my past mistakes."
