Chapter 20: Partners - till death do us apart

The festival was in full swing, and the Blue Moon Pack was alive with the sound of laughter, music, and the crackling of the campfire. The air was crisp, the scent of pine and the faint aroma of roasting food lingering on the breeze. Under the pale glow of the moon, the pack gathered in celebration, their spirits high as they enjoyed the warmth of the fire and the company of one another.

Taehyung stood beside Minjae, his heart pounding in his chest. He watched with a mixture of pride and nervousness as Minjae seamlessly integrated himself into the pack. The Alpha had a natural charisma, an ease about him that drew people in. He made light-hearted jokes with the elders, played games with the children, and even shared a laugh with Jimin and Bogum.

Minjae's presence was like a balm to Taehyung's nerves. His caring nature shone through in everything he did, whether it was helping an elder to their seat or making sure a shy child felt included in the festivities. It was clear that the pack was warming up to him, and Taehyung felt a surge of relief at the sight.

As the evening progressed, the moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived. Under the soft glow of the full moon, Yoongi and Jimin stepped forward to take their vows. The pack fell into a hushed silence, the only sounds being the crackling fire and the gentle rustle of leaves in the night breeze.

Taehyung's eyes were on his two closest friends as they stood hand in hand, their gazes locked on each other with a depth of emotion that spoke volumes. The moonlight bathed them in its soft, silvery light, making the moment feel almost ethereal.

Jimin's voice trembled slightly as he spoke, but his words were clear and strong. "Yoongi, I vow to stand by your side, to love and cherish you, and to face whatever comes our way together. You are my heart, my home, and I promise to be yours forever."

Yoongi's usually stoic expression softened as he responded, his voice low and steady. "Jimin, I vow to protect you, to hold you close in times of trouble, and to laugh with you in times of joy. You are the light in my life, and I will honor and love you for all my days."

The pack erupted into applause and cheers as the two sealed their vows with a kiss, the firelight dancing around them in celebration. Taehyung felt a lump in his throat, moved by the sincerity and love between his friends. He glanced at Minjae, who was smiling warmly at the scene, and felt a pang of longing. *Would he ever have something like this?*

As the festivities continued, Taehyung introduced Minjae to more of the pack members. Each time, Minjae charmed them with his easy-going nature and genuine interest in getting to know them. Even the most skeptical of pack members found themselves laughing at his jokes and engaging in conversation with him.

"Minjae, you have to tell that story again," Bogum said, chuckling as he clapped the Alpha on the back. "The one about the time you got lost in the forest!"

Minjae grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Ah, that's a classic. But only if Taehyung doesn't mind me embarrassing myself in front of everyone."

Taehyung laughed, feeling the tension in his shoulders ease with each passing moment. "I don't mind at all. In fact, I think everyone here would enjoy a good laugh."

As Minjae launched into the story, complete with animated gestures and over-the-top expressions, Taehyung found himself smiling more genuinely than he had in a long time. The pack's acceptance of Minjae was evident, and it filled Taehyung with a sense of peace.

However, there was a nagging thought at the back of his mind that he couldn't quite shake. Jungkook was still on his way, having gone to pick up Lisa from the Red Moon Pack. Taehyung knew it was his own doing, inviting Jungkook and allowing him to bring a guest. But the thought of Jungkook arriving with Lisa... it left a bitter taste in his mouth.
