Once more, here is a new chapter! Cheers!

"Did something happen?" Beau asked the moment the approached the room in which Bradley Bradshaw was, only to find Pete Mitchell, Tom Kazansky and his wife outside and the curtains were drawn shut, but neither of them looked panicked of hysterical, so he guessed this was just a normally check up or treatment for which the doctors needed space to work and privacy.

"No, he's fine. They only do an ultrasound to see if blood has accumulated in his abdominal cavity again." Grace told her husband, which had him nodding, before handing over a bento box, he went to get for the younger one, due to her refusing to leave Bradley's side, even if she was just meant to go eat something, before he hugged her to his body and pressed a kiss to the crown of her head which Grace easily allowed, almost uncaringly.

It took Ice and Maverick's combined force before to make her leave his side for about an hour to take a shower and a quick nap. They weren't risking using it against her so soon again in the fear that it might stop working.

"Thank you." Grace told him quietly, smiling slightly at him, and for a moment Beau thought that maybe they can come out of this stronger, but then the door opened, and her head swept around right away. Once more, he was absolutely unimportant to her, but he understood he really did. It sounded harsh, but he would turn his back on Grace without a second thought if it meant he could see Maria once more. Just once.

"It will take a bit longer, I need a coffee, you too Cyclone." Maverick announced which had Grace look at the chaos pilot for a moment, about to argue in her husband's favour, but Cyclone rested his hand on her shoulder and smiled warmly, before telling her that it was okay and that he wanted a coffee anyways.

"Great." Maverick said, giving Ice a meaningful look which had the older pilot shake his head not even fondly, before watching the rear Admiral and the Captain walk down the corridor. They reached the cafeteria and got themselves a cup of coffee before finding a seat, which had Beau on high alert, even though he knew that Maverick didn't actually want him to come along to just get a coffee with him.

"I just realised that you are my boss." Maverick told Cyclone, before pouring some sugar into his coffee and stirring it carefully not to make a mess. "Not that I care." Maverick added, which Cyclone ignored very pointedly.

"You were my boss once too, at Top Gun." Beau let him know, reminded him. He was in one of the few classes Iceman and Maverick taught together and even though he tried very hard, he couldn't remember Grace from back then, but he also stubbornly refused doing the math on how old she would have been back then.

"We flew together, so I would like you to say what you've been preparing. Off record of course." Beau offered, while Maverick was watching him closely before shrugging.

"You shouldn't have married my daughter." He told Cyclone, who looked right back at him.

"I wasn't aware that you have a daughter." The younger one pointed out, leaving the two of them starring at each other for a long moment, neither of them saying anything at all.

They were at a crossroad, but if Maverick wanted to sit here and behave like Grace's father, Cyclone wanted him to admit to whatever it actually was that was going on in Kazansky's house all those years already. He wanted the truth, but Maverick's gaze told him that the older pilot won't tell him the truth. Not even under the premise that he was his son-in-law.

"I know that my wife is in love with Bradley Bradshaw, I'm not blind." He was fucking third wheeling, and the other guy was in a coma.

It was fucking embarrassing, but he guessed he should have known before. Not that he knew Bradley Bradshaw or had ever seen him and Grace interact before, but now that that man got pushed into their life, it was so obviously clear.
