I'm Fine

'Hurry Wally, I'm not sure how much longer we can stand this shock therapy.'

I once again tried to gather my focus enough to made anything, but the cage just shocked me and all I could think about was the pain. My mind continued to teeter on the edge of unconsciousness but the snap of pain kept bringing me back.

Minutes or hours later, I couldn't tell, the cage finally disappeared and I saw Superboy punch out a naked(?) Kadabra. Without anything to keep me awake I finally was able to slip into the blissful black of unconscious.

I groaned in annoyance as a sudden brightness stung my eyes. "Turn off the lights," I mumbled.

A moment later a voice whispered by my ear, "sorry Blue, but you gotta get up now."

I shook my head and groaned again then, without warning, everything that had happened came rushing back and I bolted up; only to knock foreheads with someone and I groaned once more, for an entirely different reason though. Opening my eyes revealed Dick sitting on my bed holding his head, and thinking back I realized he was the one who had whispered in my ear.

"You sure don't hold back with your headbutts," he said while rubbing his forehead.

"Just be glad I didn't hit your chin. THAT wouldn't have been fun for either of us." Once the pain went down to a manageable level I dropped my arm and asked, "so what happened at the Tower? I'm assuming you've been debriefed."

He nodded solemnly, "yeah." He took a breath and started, "well first off, you've been unconscious for 36 hours. The others are fully recovered, you were the only one overly affected by the lightning cages."

"What about Wally and Mr. Nelson?"

"Wally was a little bruised but with his healing he was perfectly fine in a couple of hours. He's actually eating breakfast in the kitchen while creeping Alfred out by watching him make some food for you."

"Correction," Wally spoke up from the doorway while holding a covered food tray, "I was in the kitchen." He walked over to my bedside and put the tray on my lap so I could eat. "I bet you're hungry; goodness knows I would be if I had gone a day and a half without food."

Smiling in thanks I pulled the lid off the tray to see chocolate chip pancakes, drizzled with syrup, still sizzling bacon, fried eggs, and a tall glass of cold milk; the smell from the eggs telling me Alfred cooked them in the bacon grease. I dug in, attacking the pancakes first, and moaned in delight as the flavor exploded across my tongue. "I don't care what anyone says: Alfred is the god of cooking," I said after swallowing.

Dick burst out laughing, "why're you stating the obvious?" And the three of us busted our sides laughing.

After I had finished eating I realized something, "hey guys?" They turned to me as they were leaving. "You never told me what happened to Mr. Nelson. Is he ok? I can still feel his hope but it's faint, muted, like he's somewhere that isn't quite this plane of existence."

They looked at each other before Wally motioned for Dick to go on. After closing the door, Wally came and sat on my bed with a sigh. "Mr. Kent is... in the Helmet." Seeing my eyes widen he explained, "early on in the fight Klarion hit him with a spell, he didn't make it. But when I put the Helmet on his soul got sucked into it. Now he's keeping Nabu company while I try and find a suitable host so Doctor Fate can rise again."

I closed my eyes as I processed the information. After a moment I asked, "you talked about spells are souls, does that mean you believe now?"

He smirked at me, "just don't tell Artemis ok?" He held out his hand for a pinkie swear.
