I spend the day unpacking box, after box, after box, until I finally have my office put together. I set up my desktop computer and have everything neatly organized and looking cute.Colby walks into the room, "Babe, it's 8 o'clock in the evening, have you eaten anything?" He asks, his arms crossing over his chest because he already knows the answer.
"I'm sorry, my stomach just doesn't feel good still and I've been busy." I put the final notebooks on the shelf where they belong.
"Come on." He turns walking out the door, I pick up the last picture frame, setting it really quick when I hear Colby in the hallway, "Now Danielle."
My feet move of their own accord as I rush out of the room, joining him in the hallway. He walks us down to the kitchen where the smell of food invaded my nose. He points at a chair at the table, "sit."
I sit down, too tired to argue with him about how I'm not a dog he can just boss around. He sets down a bowl of chicken noodle soup and some crackers in front of me, paired with a tall glass of ice water. The smell alone makes my stomach flip and I am certainly not hungry.
"Colby this looks lovely but.."my sentence trailing off when he shoots me a glare. I pick up my spoon, taking in a bite and swallowing it down. I force myself to eat about half of the bowl and a cracker or two.
"Your office turned out really nice." He smiles across the table at me, satisfied that I've finally eaten.
"Thank you, I really like it."
My phone rings, it vibrating across the tabletop. I pick it up to see Brittany on the caller ID.
"Hello?" I answer, standing up to go outside and talk. I need a little fresh air before I throw my dinner back up.
"I did it."
"You did what?" I ask, momentarily forgetting her challenge.
"I let Blaine mark me." She says in a 'duh' tone.
"Oh yeah? What did you learn?" I ask, I can't hide the smug sound in my voice.
She sighs, "you were right."
"I knew that the whole time, it was just about getting you to cooperate." I laugh.
Another wave of nausea passes through me, and I gag slightly before leaning over the porch and losing my dinner.
"Are you sick?" I hear Brittany's worried voice once I pick my phone back up.
"Yeah, I woke up sick this morning and it's just not been a good day." I groan.
"You woke up sick this morning?" She questions.
"Yeah, like woke up and immediately puked my guts up." I nod.
"What? Like morning sickness?"
My eyes widen, my heart beating a million miles a minute, she follows that up with, "you all are using protection right?"
I smack myself in the forehead, dragging a hand down my face as I internally panic.
"Judging by the silence, I'm going to assume no."
"Shut up Brittany!" I hiss, before throwing up again.
"I'm going to the store to buy a test, come over here and take it."
"What kind of test?" I whirl around to find Colby, looking at me very confused, holding another cool wash cloth in his hand.
"I-uh-" I start and Brittany being the lovely friend she is finishes my sentence with, "a pregnancy test, moron." Before she hangs up.
