"Alright!" I cup my hands around my mouth as I shout at the unnecessarily large crowd gathered around our parked cars. "Let's pack it up! If you've touched a beer tonight, hand your keys to your passenger, grab a water bottle, and let's get going! We head out in two minutes! If you're not search-and-rescue certified, back your asses away from our cars now!" Upon hearing me, the crowds begin to disperse and back away, all of them seeming uncertain about the situation.

Not caring for their concern, I push my way through them and get the dogs loaded into the car. Javier climbs into the passenger seat the moment I unlock the doors, solidifying his place on this trip.

"Bonnie?" Tyler's voice draws my attention away from the back door as I close it. The Wrangler is walking up to me with his hands in his pockets, a slight smile on his face. "Got a call?"

"Thirty minutes away," I tell him, my eyes shifting to Hannah, who tosses a water bottle at me as soon as she knows I'm looking. I catch it while adding, "And somehow Rivera got into my car."

"You're taking the Storm Par guy?" Tyler laughs, and I nod. "Wow. You must be thrilled."

"He insisted," I admit, shrugging my shoulders. "What can I say? One more set of hands is always welcome."

"How about five more sets?" he offers, nodding backwards towards his crew, which are still scattered about.

"I think someone should stay here," I assure him, "just in case something happens South of here. You'll be able to respond faster than us." He thinks for a moment, his eyes slowly drifting down from mine until they finally settle somewhere around my hips. I laugh softly, asking, "Did I lose you there?"

"I'm thinking," he mutters, and I tilt my head. "Where's Kate?"

"In her motel room. Unaware that any of this is happening," I admit, and he points at me without looking up.

"That's evil," he states, drawing a short chuckle from my lips. "Pure evil."

"What?" I ask, waving his statement away like a pesky bug. "I don't know what you're talking about." Before he can answer, I turn to the other drivers and yell, "Alright! Let's head out!"

When I look back at Tyler, he finds my gaze and holds it without any smirk, smile, or otherwise positive and/or happy expression. His sudden seriousness wipes my own smile away quite quickly.

"What?" I question quietly.

"Be careful," he says, quickly adding, "not just with the rescue." His eyes glance down at the driver's side window and I inhale deeply.

"I will be," I assure him, nodding slightly. "If we get any calls, I'll pass them along to you until we finish up. Let me know if anything goes wrong here and uh— let Kate know where we're at if she comes looking."

"You are a horrible person," he whispers, and I shrug.

"Yeah, I know." The tease is gentle and quiet, but it means a lot to me, and I hope it means the same amount to him.

He nods and tips his hat, and then he turns to the onlooking crowd and shoos them all away, giving me the perfect chance to get in my car and pull out before anyone else can get in the way.

Javier and I don't talk for a long time.
