After awhile,
Lilac moved a bit. She felt something was on her forehead but she didn't expect it to be Juan's chin. She moved her head a bit again and Juan woke up.
" You okay?" He asked
" My head hurts so much pa, but I'll change my clothes, kasi uhm, I'm sweating"
" I'll get you, hold on" Juan sat up.
" It's okay, I can do it" Lilac tried to stand up so weakly.
" Lilac, wag nang makulit please?" He said as she opened her wardrobe.
When she's done changing, Juan sat down on the bed again and said " Sleep na ulit?"
Lilac stared at him and said " Sorry, Juan, so sorry you need to take care of me pa" Tears started to form in her eyes.
" Hey" Juan got closer and said " Anong nakakaiyak dun?"
" I don't know, I just, never felt this weak before. Feeling ko ngayon lang ako nagkasakit ng ganito"
" Then lucky for you kasi may kasama ka" He said as he laid down.
Lilac cried and cried " I'm so sorry, I'm just so emotional right now, and my head hurts so bad, my whole body is in pain, and you're taking care of me pa, and we're not even friends -"
" Shhh shhh shhh" Juan puts a finger on her lips.
" Come on, Bunny. Just take a rest, okay?"
Did he just? called me by pet name? Bunny? Lilac thought.
Taena laban na laban na ko dito ah, hay Bunny. Juan sighed and caressed her hair.
- Morning -
Juan was the first na magising. He saw her sleeping peacefully hugging her pillow.
She looks so calm, tangina ang ganda. Tangina ano ba 'to. Bakit ganito nararamdaman ko?
Thankfully, the weather seems okay now. It stopped raining since midnight and sun is showing up already.
Lilac started moving her eyebrows and saw Juan beside her, just staring into space.
" Good morning" she muttered
" Feeling okay na?" He asked and glanced at her
She nodded.
" Oh, sun is up na! That's great news!"
" Yeah, pinapapasok na kami sa internship" He said " Like today, they were asking if pwede kaming mag duty ng afternoon" He said
" But you don't have uniform pa?" She asked
" I do, but nandon sa unit ni Josh, pabalik na siya rito" He said
" Ohhh, that's good. Power's back na rin siguro?" She said as she stood up and tried to on the light.
"Yay!" She said as soon as the light turned on.
" You're sure you're okay na?" He asked again as he sat up.
" Yeah, Inom na lang ako ulit meds mamaya"
" Okay"
" Gusto mo kumain muna before you leave?" She askex while scrolling through her phone. " Wala na din pala baha" She shared.
Oo nga eh, it's kinda sad tho, tapos na to. He thought.
" That's good to know" He said and faked a smile.
" Siguro maglilinis kayo don, I saw na nabaha din sa main street eh"
" Probably, they offered na if papasok kami ngayon equivalent to 24 hours duty na eh, so yeah"
" Wow, ang generous naman nila sa time"
She went to the bathroom to wash up and when she finishes, she hear Juan talking to the phone " Oo, sige, san ka naba?" Juan said.
" Layo pa pala eh, maaga pa naman. Ingat pre"
" Oo sige, text na lang"
He saw Lilac and said " Si Migs saka si Shua, papunta na sila. Mag breakfast na lang siguro kami, gutom daw sila eh"
" Ohh that's okay, sige!"
They waited for 45minutes when Juan's phone rang again.
" So pano? Ingat ka ha, you meds din, inumin mo"
" Yeah, thank you Juan!" She waved.
" Thank you, Bun-" He paused " Thank you for welcoming me here, Lilac"
" No problem! Have fun and enjoy the rest of your internship." She smiled again as she walked him to the door.
" Thank you again, Lilac" He said as he exits her door.
Grabe, is she setting a boundary between me and her? Text ko ba?
Juan waited for the elevator with head full of thoughts. He's trying to decide whether or not to send a message to Lilac and keep the rapport going. Sayang kasi, universe na nga ang gumawa ng paraan para makapag build kami ng friendship, pakawalan ko pa ba?
Elevator dings and he saw his two friends waiting at him smiling.
" Tangina eto na pala yung malupit nating kaibigan eh" Umakbay si Migs sakanya
" Tangina pre, ang kapal din ng mukha mo no?" Josh laughed,
" wala yon" He shyly said.
" Talagang wala dapat, kasi pano si Andrea?" Migs said.
Fuck! Juan cursed to himself. His friends noticed the changed of his emotion as they walked to the nearby fast food restaurant. Medyo madumi pa din ang daan at madaming basura.
" Bakit kasi hindi mo pa i-end yan all at once?" Josh said
" Eh ayaw nya nga" Juan explained
" Pwede bang ayaw? Last time I checked, hindi naman talaga kayo"
" Oo nga, saka sa Mapua naman siya, madaling iwasan." Miguel laughed.
" She's blocked na sakin, ang kinakatakot ko lang is, baka kung anong gawin nya na naman" Juan explained
" Bakit ba nalilito ka jan? Wala naman problema dati, dinededma mo din naman talaga si Andrea, so anong pinagbago ngayon?" Josh asked
" Wala" He answered
" Baka gusto nya si Lilac" Miguel joked
" Yun lang, nako, mahirap yan. For sure, one of them, will find out the other one. Sila pa ba?"
" Wala naman yon, Lilac and I aren't even friends. She's just kind enough to let me in kasi nga, dahil sayo!" Juan tried to punch Josh's arm.
" Blessing in disguise nga yon, alam ko naman na dati ka pa din gigil jan kay Lilac" Josh joked
" Gago!"
" Sus, pre, alam kong iba yang tingin mo sakanya no, kaya nga di ka nakikisakay sa mga trip sa CR ng mga batchmates natin eh."
" Oh eh kayo din naman ah, kailan pa naging okay mag objectify ng babae?"
" Tama, mga section E talaga lang naman mga manyak" Miguel agreed.
" What I meant was, even before, alam ko naman na crush mo yan si Lilac. Nagiging mahiyain ka pag nakikita mo eh" Josh laughed
" So anong nalaman mo sakanya? Medyo matagal din kayong magkasama ah" Miguel asked.
" Madami" Juan smiled
" Ahhh tangina kinikilig amp" Miguel teased. " So ano nga! Sample!"
" Akin na yon!" Juan answered as they entered the restaurant.
