It has been 4 days since Juan left Lilac's condo. He had never heard from her. She also never heard from him. She's also quiet on her socmed accounts.
In three weeks, the new semester will begin and they will be entering 3rd year.
It's a busy day for them. The clinic is offering free lab tests and they were assigned to assess all the patients waiting in line.
Juan, Joshua & Miguel were talking to each other.
" Ano na nga? Di mo pa ba nakamusta man lang?" Migs asked
" Alam mo, tama na nga. Wala nga yun. Hindi ba pwedeng mabait at accomodating lang yung tao?" Juan asked. " Nay akin napo yung braso nila, check natin BP nyo" He told the old woman in front of him.
" Just saying" Miguel chuckled.
" Well, sobrang dry ng accounts nya on social media, hindi madaling makibalita sakanya" Josh butted in
" Tumigil na nga kayo" Juan tried to stop his friends.
They saw familiar faces walking towards them. It's Brie, Aly and Hoshi.
" Uy! Dito pala kayo nag intern!" Hoshi greeted the three.
" Uy pre, musta?" Miguel high-fived Hoshi.
" Okay naman pre, may dinalaw lang kami jan sa Makati Med" Hosh explained.
" Si Brie and Aly yon ah" Josh said looking at Juan
" Oo, mga galit na yan. Kaya bounce na ko" Hosh said
" Galit?" Juan asked
" Oo eh, kagabi pa sila nakabantay kay Lilac, antok na yan mga yan uwi pa kaming Cavite."
" Ha? Bakit? What happened?" Miguel asked
" Dengue, gulat nga din kami eh"
" Hoooooshhhhhiiiii" Brie whined walking towards them.
" Sorry to be rude but I'm really tired na, can we go home?" Brie asked nicely. " Hi guys" Brie greeted them.
" Kailan pa nasa hospital si Lilac?" Josh asked
" Hmmm I think 4 days ago pa. Why?" Brie asked
" Wala lang, may kasama sya ngayon?" He asked again.
" Wala, bukas naman ma-discharge na sya. Her kuya will pick her up din. So uuwi na kami to get some rest din"
" Oh! Oo nga pala! You took care of her diba?" Brie told Juan. " Grabe, alam mo after mo yata umalis natulog sya ulit then wala na, madaling araw na sya nagising. She braved her way lang pababa ng lobby. Tapos nagpatawag na ng ambulance yung guard kasi sobrang putla nya na daw-"
"Brie" Aly called from not so far from them
" TMI ka na, tara na" She said again with straight face.
" So yun nga, bye na. Let's go na Hosh! Papakainin pa natin si Love" Brie grabbed Hoshi's hand and waved goodbye to them.
" Kaya pala di mo mahagilap, muntik na pala mamatay yung tao eh" Josh joked.
" Puntahan ko ba?" Juan asked.
" Akala ko ba wala lang yon?" Miguel joked.
" Wala, eh kasi ako yung last kasama nya"
" Edi puntahan mo, wala naman masama dun"
" Di ba too much naman na yun para sa dalawang tao na hindi naman friends?"
" Juan, I'm sure hindi yan yung maiisip nya." Josh explained. " Maybe maisip nya lang na, mabait ka ganon"
" 3 hours na lang naman duty natin. Puntahan mo na lang din, 10 minute walk lang yan oh, kitang kita mo na dito" Miguel said
" Bahala na, may dadaanan pa rin ako eh" Juan said
" Huh? San ka punta?"
" Bibili ng clothes, para sa debut ni Andrea, 2 weeks na lang yun eh"
" Awit, kaya pala eh" Miguel clicked his tongue.
" Pass sa ganyan, Juan. Wag mo na puntahan si Lilac" Josh laughed.
Tangina naman kasi eh. Juan thought.
At the hospital
Lilac was on the phone with her Kuya Ram.
" you sure you'll be fine alone?"
" oo nga, i'll be out na din tomorrow eh" She smiled
" sabihin mo kay kuya Ralph punta na sya ng maaga ha"
" Yes kuya"
Ram sighed. " Ang hirap pag may sakit ka eh, dapat kasi di ka magisa sa condo eh"
" Kuya, ngayon lang naman to. I was fine naman before mag bagyo"
" San na nga pala yung Juan?"
" Hala kuya, wala yun. Batchmate ko lang yun, were not even friends" Lilac laughed.
" So accommodating ka lang?" Her kuya giggled.
" Oo ah"
" Bait pala nyan ih"
" Kaw nga eh, mapagmahal sa bansa yarn????" Lilac joked
" Oo sobra, baket?"
" Pagtatanggol bansa daw, Air-force pa, di man makabaril sa Valo, sus" Lilac teased.
" Magpahinga ka na nga jan!"
It's almost 4pm and Lilac managed to take a nap. She's still weak but her fever was gone.
It's almost 8pm when she woke up from the sound of the door opening. It's time for her medicine.
" Kakatulog nya lang po?" She heard the woman asked. Then a guy answered " I think maybe 3 hours na syang tulog? Not sure po"
She forced her eyes to open and he saw Juan sitting by the couch.
" Hey" She said weakly.
" Oh she's awake na pala" Juan told the nurse.
Nurse gave her the medicine and took a blood sample to test her platelet count,
" I got worried when I heard from Brie, kamusta ka?"
" Kanina ka pa dito?" Lilac asked
" Hmm mga 5pm?"
" Bakit hindi mo ako ginising?"
" You looked so comfy eh"
" Hmmmm, okay. But, why?" Lilac asked
" Why what?"
" Why are you here? Wala ka bang duty tomorrow?"
" Meron but last day naman na"
" Hmmmm"
" Bakit hindi mo ako sinabihan na you're sick ulit that night?"
" Ha? Eh bakit ko sasabihin sayo?" Lilac wondered
" Wala lang, maybe kasi kasama mo naman ako before it happened. And I know na may sakit ka, but I didn't expect na magkalalagnat ka ulit after non"
" Uhmmm, wala. I don't know. I feel asleep kasi tapos around midnight na ako nagising. Then yun, sobrang lamig and nag nose bleed ako. So I decided to go to hospital na" She smiled
" You could've told me din na nandito ka"
" Huh? Eh bakit?" Her eyebrows crunched.
" W-wala. I would like to know, syempre"
" Wouldn't that be awkward?" Lilac asked
" Why would it be? Tabi nga tayo natulog the night before ako umalis"
Lilac's face turned red.
" Bakit gulat ka?" Juan asked
" Haaa? Eh kasi I thought yun na yun, like, diba di naman tayo friends at all?"
" After what happened, hindi pa din ba tayo friends nun?" Juan asked.
" Hmmm, I thought lang kasi we'll go back lang sa acquaintances ganon. Batchmates. Suplado ka eh" Lilac laughed.
" Akala mo lang yon bunny" Juan laughed "Kain ka na, may jollibee dito"
