"Fuck, strong enough kaya tong glass na to?" Juan thought. He continued to play on his phone to get the worry out of his mind.
However, his gut is trying to make him check on the girl on the 19th floor.
"Okay lang kaya yon?" He said again and he heard the wind against the window again.
"Kung iisipin, her unit is located at the right wing part of the condo, and if the winds are coming from the north, her room is not directly getting hit of the winds, and if so, for sure hindi naman ganon kalakas kasi may veranda naman"
He's correct. However, Lilac's unit is in the corner, which makes one side of her bedroom a floor to ceiling glass wall.
He received a call again from his mom "Anak, signal no. 5 na daw sa Manila, are you okay?"
" Yes ma, okay naman"
" So alam mo na kung saan galing yung typhoon? Safe ka ba?"
Actually, no. Joshua's side of the building will be the one na sasapo lahat ng hangin since it's facing north.
" Opo ma"
"Sige anak, so sorry wala kami jan ni papa mo, had I known anak, sana na postpone ko pa tong pag uwi namin sa GuangZhou"
" Ano ka ba, okay lang. Kahit naman nasa bahay ako wala din naman akong kasama, mabuti na dito, may friends ako na malapit" He said. Sinungaling.
" O siya sige anak, mag charge ka ng phone. May nabasa akong news na baka mawalan ng power ang NCR. May electric posts na na nag explode, so please anak, be safe"
" Yes ma"
Lilac decided to lie down and dozed off right away from exhaustion. Since the storm is making a landfall at the moment, Juan couldn't help himself to check on her.
He replied to her reposted story, "Everything okay there?"
30 minutes passed by and there was no reply
" Lilac?"
" Hey, you okay?"
Another 30 minutes has passed and as he looks outside, it looks like it's almost night time.
He scrolled through his phone, and saw some news,
"City wide black out on Taguig due to explosion of electrics posts"
"Fuck" He breathed.
Then he heard an announcement by the door from the admin,
" This is a notice to all residents. Please expect a power outage in our area. As of now, the city of Makati is under a signal no.5 super typhoon, and reported exploding power posts around the area. With this, the management decided to cut off the electricity on our elevators to prevent accidents. We kindly request your patience and understanding. Rest assured that each concern and suggestions will be addressed once everything is under control and once the weather permits. Thank you very much"
As he heard the wind was getting stronger, he decided to close the blinds. The power went out shortly after.
Without having anything else to do, and with 10% battery, he decided he's gonna knock on Lilac's unit.
"Bahala na, sabihin ko na lang makikicharge ako" He thought.
He got to unit 1928 and knocked endlessly. Door
opened and he saw Lilac, looking like she was half asleep.
"Power's out na, do you have a powerbank?"
Lilac just nodded and walked inside again. She stopped walking and pointed at the basket under the centre table in the living room. There he saw multiple fans, 3 power banks, a power station and some stuff you need for cases like this.
