Huxley's POV

Somewhere in July.

''Huxley, I told you before and I'll say it again. What do I need to wear?'' Estelle eyes me impatiently.

I smile at my nervous girlfriend. We're going out to have dinner with my parents and Estelle wants to make a good impression, therefore she's been harassing me since 2pm.

I study her up and down, taking an appreciative look at her white summer dress that hangs just above her knees. She's wearing the golden necklace with sun and moon charms I gave her a month ago. It makes me proud to see it hanging around her neck. She did her hair half-up, half-down. To say it simply, she looks gorgeous. She doesn't need to worry about impressing my parents. She not only shines on the outside, but on the inside as well.

I give my beautiful girlfriend an approving look. ''Sunshine, you look amazing. No need to worry. You got along with Maura just fine, she adores you and my parents will too.''

''You sound so confident they'll like me. But do you know how intimidating it is to meet your boyfriend's parents?'' Estelle says.

I give her an understanding nod. ''You know I do. When I met your father he gave me the talk." I say recalling the moment. Don't mess with my daughter or I'll make you regret it. I admit he was kinda scary, but I do get where he's coming from. He's only trying to protect Estelle.

''Oh god don't remind me. He was being ridiculous.'' She shivers at the memory.

I laugh. ''Don't worry my parents aren't like that. Besides, your dad and I are bonding over hockey. I'm pretty sure that he likes me, he just doesn't want to admit it.''

Estelle smiles at that. ''He does like you. And yes, the tough guy doesn't like to admit that.''

I smile in satisfaction. ''Nobody could resist my charming nature.''

''Really charming.'' Estelle replies sarcastically but I can see that she's laughing. I'm glad that I can make her smile. Maybe calm her nerves a little bit, but being the over-thinker that she is, she will be worried again.

''Let's go. Don't wanna be late to your first meeting.'' I say.

This gets her attention. Estelle quickly scans her phone to see the time and her eyes widen. ''Huxley why didn't you tell me it was already this late?''

I smile at her panicked expression. ''You were so busy with your outfit. It was endearing to see, so I got distracted and forgot the time.''

''Please stop smiling, you know how worried I am. I want them to like me.'' Estelle says defeated.

I shake my head. ''Don't worry Sunshine we'll manage to get there in time.''

I walk over to her and give her a kiss.

Estelle seems to respond immediately to the contact but pushes me away.

''Let's save that for later.'' She says.

I smirk. ''Fine by me, I do love my dessert extra sweet.''

She snickers at my cheesy remark.

— dinner time —

''So, you must be Estelle! I've heard so much about you!'' My mother exclaims as she pulls Estelle into a tight hug.

I shake my head. We just arrived at the restaurant and as soon as my mother saw us she flew directly to Estelle. Her over the top reaction might have to do with the numerous occasions where I rattled on about Estelle.

From the looks of it Estelle and my mother get along well. I never worried about my parents not liking her, but I am happy to see my girlfriend's relief.
