The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, bathing the room in a gentle glow. The warmth of the sun slowly roused me from sleep, though my body felt heavy with the remnants of last night’s emotions.

I blinked, feeling the dried tracks of tears on my cheeks, and for a brief moment, I wondered if it had all been a dream.

But the ache in my chest told me otherwise.I turned over in bed, burying my face in the pillow as if I could hide from it all, but it was no use.

A gentle knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. “Renna? Are you awake?” mama's voice called softly from the other side.

“Yeah,” I replied, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from my eyes. “I’m awake.”

The door creaked open, and my mother entered, carrying a tray with breakfast—toast, eggs, and a cup of tea. Behind her, to my surprise, Isla slipped into the room, a small smile on her face.

“Isla? What are you doing here?” I asked, blinking in surprise.

She shrugged, stepping closer to the bed. “I just wanted to check on you, see how you’re feeling,” she said, her tone light but her eyes full of concern. “And I thought we could go  together.”

"You came all the way from your dorm to go back again?"I ask my eyes widening.

Isla grinned, plopping down on the edge of the bed. "Of course.Nothing is more important than you"

I managed a small smile, touched by her thoughtfulness. “Thanks, Isla. I’m surprised, but I’m glad you’re here.”

"So, how are you feeling this morning?" she asks her eyes boring into mine.

I glanced at mama, who set the tray down beside me,  “I was feeling worse yesterday,” I admitted, reaching for the cup of tea.

“But with Mama’s help, everything feels a bit more bearable today. I’m not okay yet, but… I think I’ll get through this.”

Mama smiled, brushing a hand through my hair. “You will, Renna. You’re stronger than you know.”

Isla nodded in agreement, her expression softening. “And you’ve got us. You’re not alone in this.”

I took a deep breath, feeling a little more at ease. “Thanks, both of you. I guess… I’m just going to go with the flow from now on. Not expecting anything from anyone and just focusing on people who love me.Maybe that’s the way to have some peace.”

Isla looked at me with understanding, her hand resting gently on my arm.

With that, I finished my breakfast, feeling a bit more like myself. I got out of bed, moving to the closet to pick out clothes for the day. As I began to get ready, the familiar routine brought a sense of normalcy that I desperately needed.
