"Lucky are those,
whose first love doesn't teach
them the lesson of Moving On"The courtyard was filled with the usual buzz of students, but my focus zeroed in on a familiar group gathered near the benches.
As I approached, I could see Cameron, Isla, Freya, and George deep in conversation, their laughter echoing through the air.
Freya spotted me first, her face lighting up with that bright smile she always had. "Renna! There you are. We were just waiting for you."
I smiled , tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I joined them. "Sorry, I got caught up with something."
Cameron, grinned as he leaned back on the bench. "Caught up, huh? More like trying to avoid our madness. You know we're impossible to escape once we start planning something."
Isla chuckled, giving Cameron a playful nudge. "She's not wrong to try and escape. Have you heard some of the plans this guy comes up with? Last year, he suggested we try to catch fish with our bare hands."
Freya, shook her head with a smirk. "And that was after he realized we had plenty of food in the cabin. Apparently, 'survival mode' kicks in even when we're fully stocked."
I couldn't help but laugh softly at their banter.
Cameron suddenly perked up, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Speaking of plans... what about our annual trip, guys? You know, the one where we escape to the woods and pretend we're living off the grid."
Isla's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Yeah ,the cabin trip? We always go around this time of year! I'd almost forgotten how fun it is."
Freya nodded eagerly, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm. "Yes! The weather's perfect for it now, and it's been forever since we've had one of those trips. We need to plan it out."
I tilted my head, curious but slightly confused. "What trip are you all talking about?"
Freya turned to me, her expression filled with fond memories. "Every year, Cameron, Isla, Aadam, and I go up to this wooden house by the woods. It's Cameron's family cabin, and it's sort of become our tradition to spend a few days there just relaxing, hiking, and forgetting about school and everything else."
Isla jumped in, her voice brimming with excitement. "And this year, it's going to be even better because you and George are joining us! It's going to be epic ."
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through me at the thought of being included in something so special to them.
But before I could say anything, Cameron smirked and leaned forward, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Yeah, Renna, just wait until you see our luxury wilderness experience. It's like camping, but with a roof over your head and a fridge full of food. We're roughing it, but with style."
