Saffron looked up from her phone and down the street seeing the small Italian bakery. She saw the Spaniard looking around down the other end of the street before catching his eye. She smiled and offered a small wave. He smiled back grinning from ear to ear before toning it down and reading Saffrons facial expression. He cleared his throat as she approached.

"Morning" she said softly.

"Morning" he said almost whispering gazing down at her.

She stared back at him, his eyes glistened. She cleared her throat "shall we go inside?" She asked.

He nodded.

The pair sat at a table in the corner and out of the way. They scanned the menu before both ordering coffee and eggs. Saffron cradled her mug in both hands staring down into the brown warm liquid. He stared at he, his fingers looped through the handle of the cup he was occasionally sipping.

"Well" she said not staring at him.

He cleared his throat "thank you for agreeing to see me" he said softly.

"Mhm" she said glancing at him.

There was a silence that fell.

"Um I wanted to see you because as you know I heard you and Max and I wanted you to hear it from, how you say uh, the horses mouth about what actually happened when we were together" he said pausing.

Saffron stared at him "I'm listening" she said as if to usher him along.

"I just want you to know that I loved you. I did truly. With all my heart. Why I cheated on you I do not know. But I" he said before she cut him off.

"No you didn't" saffron chuckled "if you loved me you wouldn't have cheated" she said looking out the window.

"Saffron please I did love you. I still love you. But I know what I did hurt you and I know I will never ever get a chance to be with you again. You have no idea how horrible I feel and how much I regret my actions. I wish I had never hurt you. I wish that I could go back and tell myself not to have done that. What a fool I was. Please I need you to know that you were all I wanted" he said get teary. He looked like he could cry into his eggs at that point.

"Carlos. Thank you for your words. Truly. But you need to know I am never going to believe or trust you. I just can't. You need to respect that" Saffron said.

Carlos stared back at her and went to open his mouth to say something. Saffron shook her head.

"I just want you to know I'm sorry" he whispered.

Saffron nodded "okay" she said.

The pair sat in silence and ate their breakfast. Carlos looked like he was going to be sick. He didn't want to eat but knew that he should. Saffron shuffled the food around on her plate, re-arranging it instead of eating it. Perhaps to distract herself from this mess that she had gotten herself into all this years ago.

After finishing their meals and eating far too many Italian treats and sweets that were complimentary from the owner, Carlos headed up to the counter to pay. As he was standing chatting away, an older woman came by to clear their table.

"You're a lucky woman" she said giggling.

"Huh?" Saffron asked.

"You and that man. Gosh he is to die for. You're so lucky to have him" she said.

Saffron stared "we aren't together" she said as if getting a bad taste out of her mouth.

"Oh" the woman said.

"And trust me" Saffron said staring at him "you don't want him" she said before grabbing her bag and heading towards the door.

Saffron stood outside and waited for Carlos. He eventually exited the bakery and stood next to Saffron. The paid stood there awkwardly before Saffron cleared her throat. She turned to Carlos and he turned to her. He leant in closer for a hug but she stuck her hand out for him to shake. He looked down at it, frowned and then awkwardly put his hand in hers and shook it.

"Thanks for breakfast and the chat I guess" Saffron said frowning.

"Thank you for letting me talk to you. I know you're not really wanting to see anyone right now" Carlos said.

"Yes you will be the first and last person from the grid with the exception of Max to see or speak to me" she said crossing her arms across her chest.

"I'm honoured" Carlos said chuckling.

Saffron frowned "it's not a compliment" she said.

"Well" Carlos said shrugging.

As Saffron went to turn away she was quickly shoved into the bakery wall behind her. She heard screaming before everything became blurry and turned black.
