It's been a few months since me and Delilah met. She's insufferable. Always trying to be better than me, to surpass me in some way. It's draining having to compete with someone who only wants to surpass you.
"Hey, what's up, Sylv?" she calls out to me. Shit. I forgot we were on this mission together.
Theres a cursed spirit somewhere in this abandoned school, praying on dumbasses stupid enough to go exploring. It's not strong. Only just a third grade. But worth the risk to send out the only two seconds grade sorcerers in the first year?? Yeah, Gojo's doing. He's trying to make me and her closer. I just hate how obvious he is.
"Nothing, just...listening." It was a lie. Quite an obvious one. But she's too sweet to question me.
She nods, taking a step closer to me. I can feel the heat from her body, even from here. Is she that scared?
"This place is freaking me out ..I feel like I'm being watched." She says with a slight crack on her voice. She's really that scared..
As we walk, I continue to think about her. Does she really just wanna surpass me? Or is she just...trying to connect with me? To stay on my level. Shit...I've had her all wrong..
"It's okay, Delilah-" I try to offer her some comfort, but a loud snap from behind us causes her to scream and cling onto me.
I can feel my face heat up at the close proximity. Why?? She's done this before and it didn't do anything to me...so why now?
We both turn out heads at the exact same time. It's the cursed spirit.
"Hah, want me to take it or do you?" I say, looking down at her clinging onto my arm.
"Y..you can...please.." it was more of a request than an offer.
I just nod, nudging her away from my arm. It...made me feel sad, having to let her go. I loved the feeling of her.. needing me to be safe.
The cursed spirit goes down easily. I didn't even need to use my technique. I turn to her, with a huge grin.
She doesn't know it. But my whole perspective on her has just changed. She's probably my favourite person right now. And I know for a fact I'm hers.
