A V A
And then, the day arrived when Albert was finally going to take off for Cambridge.
I went to the airport to see them off. Albert and his girlfriend. Thankfully, Mom didn't come as she was on a business trip, so I was the only one here with them. Lucy promised to come, but this time, her mother was too strict about her curfew, and that was the reason why she wasn't there.
"Ava, it's your last chance, say it if you don't want me to go," he has asked me the same question a hundredth time this week.
He said he would stay if I told him to.
I shook my head again in no. He frowned and hugged me once again.
"I'll miss you so much." He kissed the top of my head while hugging me.
I smiled. "I'll miss you too"
"Don't forget what I taught you...Never let anyone inside the house if you find them peculiar, don't open the door if you see someone strange behind the door. Always turn off the gas connection if not needed, check all the windows before going to bed, and don't burn the house please.". Before he could continue his instructions I shut him by raising both of my hands in the air in front of him.
"You've told me the same thing umpteenth time"
"Because I'm worried if you-"
"Yeah, I'll not burn your house, rest assured." I rolled my eyes.
Elsa parted from her parents and came toward us. She sent me a warm smile and I returned her the same one. "It's time, Albert; we should leave now," she announced and turned to face me. "Ava, your brother is one flight away. He'll be there for you whenever you need." I nodded my head.
"And I wrote Chelsea's phone number along with all required numbers in the phone directory; you can call her anytime you need a hand." She pointed to her younger sister, who waved at me with a genuine smile when my eyes landed on her. I waved back and pressed a smile.
"I don't want to bother anyone but thank you again for your kindness"
"Don't be so formal. Give me a hug." She pouted and stretched her arm, and we hugged, and Albert joined us.
They kissed my cheeks together and left for departure.
I stand there looking at their descending figures and let the tears roll down my cheeks, which were waiting for so long to come out.
"Hey," I heard the familiar voice, and I turned swiftly to meet my eyes with his green orbs, and I ran into his arms in no time.
He wrapped his arms around me and I felt that the burden I was holding for so long was finally lifted. His warmth felt like home, it felt safe.
"Thanks for coming." My voice was muffled as my mouth was pressed over his chest. There wasn't any urge to do anything other than being wrapped in his arm at this time.
