The Cross

The wallpaper in the dining room was a mess, parts of the previous design could be seen thanks to Rafe and Carla's crazy brother ripping it off to find the Cross of Santo Domingo. 

That's right, more gold.

They spent all night trying to figure out the clues to the location of the cross; around 2am I decided to go upstairs to sleep. I had to rest because today was an important day.

"Wheez, hey" I called out to her as I knocked on her door.

A few seconds later she opened the door "What happened? I thought you had left with Rafe."

"No, of course I didn't. I can't find Rose anywhere. Could you tell her that I went out to buy some things if she comes to ask for me?

"Sure, can you bring me some ice cream?" the girl asked.

"Actually I'm not going to buy anything, I have some business to attend to. But if it's on my way, I'll buy you your ice cream, okay?"

She shrugged her shoulders "Okay".

Before I left, I sent a text message to Sarah, telling her everything that happened, maybe Pope would be interested in it.

So, everything is fine so far?" I asked leaning back in the chair, "That's right.

"That's right, the only thing you have to do is take the vitamins I prescribed, since you didn't have prenatal care, but I'm sure with that everything will be fine" The ostetrician confirmed.

"That's good" I smiled slightly. As much as I was mad at Rafe I couldn't help but feel bad for not telling him, he could have been here, but honestly, after his outburst last night I don't know what to expect from him.

"I know it's none of my business" The doctor snapped me out of my thoughts "But we have a program for single mothers, the front desk can give you more information."

"Oh, thank you. But, I-I... my boyfriend couldn't come because of family issues, his father just died, so..." I started to explain

"Sure, no problem, it was just an option" The Doctor told me as she extended me a paper with my next appointment

"Thank you" I said before grabbing my things to leave.

As I left the clinic I dialed Sarah.

"So, how did everything go?" my cousin asked.

"Surprisingly well. I'll tell you all about it as soon as I see you. How are they doing with that?"

"Well right now we're stuck in a swamp near Angel Oak, I'm surprised I got a signal so your call came in."

"Shit, are you guys ok?" I asked as I started my car "I can come get you guys in about half an hour."

"No, that's okay. Kie and JJ are fixing that. You should get some rest."

"You sure? Well, if you guys want to get to the beach house, we can have pizza for dinner or something.

"Sure, the guys are going to need that. They're a little sad, things didn't go the way we thought they would. Rafe made it a little complicated" Sarah told me as she sighed.

"Yeah, Rafe usually complicates things."

"Don't tell me he screwed up again."

"When doesn't he? Anyway, I'll see you guys in a bit, yeah?"

"Sure"

After that, I hung up. It took me about 5 more minutes to get to Tanny Hill, luckily Rose was still missing and there was no sign of Wheezie, so they didn't notice I just went to pick up some of my stuff to go to the beach house.
